Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort

Quite a hidden gem this place. except for the distance(3 hours drive one way) from the Colombo airport everything about this place is 5 star.
Service: we received prompt service and personalized tour of property.
Clean: the rooms were spacious and clean
Food: we tried all the three restaurants at the property and loved each one. The multi cuisine one was excellent.
The resort has a private beach, two pools and a great play area for kids

We were incredibly impressed by the beauty of the hotel. Particular highlights were how clean the hotel was, how friendly and attentive all the staff were (particularly Anthony who was extremely helpful as our host) and the numerous facilities including the gym and spa.

The food everywhere was exceptional, specifically Virela which was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I had been to Anantara properties in the Maldives and Thailand so we decided to try this place. It is a bit more expensive than most of the other beach resorts in Sri Lanka, but there is a reason for that, everything is top notch. We booked half board and that was perfect for us, full board would have been too much food. From the minute you drive into the property, you see perfectly manicured landscaping. Every staff member we interacted with had a nice personality and seemed happy to be there, we have no complaints about the property or their staff. I have uploaded both a video of the room and pictures of it as well as lots of other pictures of the property and some videos. There are lots of wildlife on the property which was very nice. We never left the property, it had everything we needed to make us happy. I recommend Anantara Peace Haven and will be back again but will bring my daughters next time.

One of the best resorts I have been to in the world! The staff and service is beyond incredible - they are very attentive and respectful. I got engaged here, and the staff decorated my room and provided a set of free drinks as congrats.

Incredible scenery, and the spa is amazing too! Perfect for a romantic getaway or to celebrate a special occasion.

The perfect t place to stay in Tangalle. Just few minutes outside of the city,a,ONG the coast with a private beach, a large resort made of several building with rooms and private villas with private pools. Friendly and efficient staff, several restaurant, huge breakfast so everything is made so you can stay in the resort all day. Large and warm swimming pool as well as multiple activities.

The hotel is as you would expect for a 5* hotel. Impeccable service, beautiful grounds, extremely good food which varied daily and all made with beautifully fresh ingredients and presented so very well. The fresh morning smoothies were delightful, packed with fresh fruit and vegetables to kick start the day. There are food choices for all, if you are looking to keep to your fitness routine there are so many fresh and healthy options for breakfast. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with everything you could possibly want and if you feel you are missing anything then a quick call to housekeeping and your wish is granted. Every room overlooks the sea which is so peaceful and early morning is quite idyllic having coffee on the balcony, again very spacious and equipped with both a large day bed and also a table and two chairs. You will not be disappointed with the birds that come to visit early morning, together with the peacocks and monitor lizards. It’s quite fascinating. The gym is well equipped with Technogym gear which will keep you on track for your time away from your normal gym routine. The spa is beautiful and tranquil with many relaxing treatments. There are many daily complimentary activities around the hotel, such as morning yoga or collecting herbs in the organic kitchen garden to name but a few.
The staff, well they really are superb and nothing is too much trouble.
I would personally like to thank a few that really made our stay so perfect in every way.
Irshard Nuhuman (Restaurant & Bar Manager) made our daily breakfast and dinner visits so enjoyable. He always greeted us with a smile and handshake and ensured our dining experience was enjoyable. All of the staff who supported him were so very friendly and personable also.
Thisal Karunarathne who was assigned to us to ensure everything was perfect for our stay did an absolutely wonderful job, even sourcing me hairspray last minute. He ensured that we were catered for in every way possible and an extremely personable young gentleman.
Last but not least, a charming young man called G.W. Heshan Nethsara who worked as a lifeguard on the beach. He was most wonderfully charming and helpful at all times. He took time to get to know us and help set out our sunbeds and towels every morning. Nothing was ever too much trouble and he always had a happy disposition. He worked very hard to ensure not just us, but all guests were catered for and most importantly kept guests safe in the sea.
I hope my review will inspire others to visit this hotel and Sri Lanka as it really is the most enchanting place

First of all the location and the vastness of the resort is unbeatable. Everything we needed is there and so much more to see! We were able to check out 3 different rooms and they were all amazing. The ambiance was so peaceful with the added wildlife and sound of waves.

The food at the buffet at Journey restaurant as well as the il Mare italian restaurant were soooo gooooood!! Me and my friends were always excited for food time!!

The hospitality of the staff put this resort at the top of my list. I will never forget how pampered we were especially by Kaush who was our butler. The whole butler system via Whatsapp was genius. We were able to contact Kaush anytime and he literally helped us with EVERYTHING. He even went beyond his duty by helping us find a nice activity for my friend’s bachelorette. Our pick up from the hotel was at 3am and even if his shift was already over, he stayed longer and made sure we had snacks to bring woth us to the airport. This level of care made us feel like Princesses in the resort. A special thanks also to Sujay who was the duty Manager at the time and would always check on us.

We tried all the activities offered in the hotel. Special thanks to the Yoga instructor, the herbal garden guide, the boat man and to all the staff that truly made our stay special.

The buffet was wonderful. All meals were a different spread and tasted well.
The staff was always helpful and friendly.

The kids had a a kids club with quite a few activities.
Pools were well maintained.

I've stayed in hotels around the world, and Anantara stands out as one of the best.

Firstly, the staff are absolutely amazing; they take the time to get to know you and are incredibly attentive. From the restaurant staff to the cleaners; pool staff and gardeners.

The facilities are excellent, the spa is luxurious, the gym is great for a hotel, and the yoga class was serene.

The food was absolutely outstanding. We went half board and had an amazing dinner every night as the menu changes nightly.

The villa we had, looking onto the water, was incredible and was cleaned to an impeccable standard with everything you could ever need.

I could not recommend staying here enough, a truly special experience.

My mom and I went on a girls trip to Sri Lanka in August 2023 and we were fortunate enough to stay at this fabulous resort for 2 nights. Our only regret is we didn’t stay longer. They definitely named this place correctly…it is absolutely a peace haven! Beautiful and spacious rooms, lush and well manicured lawns, activities galore, amazing staff, the best food I’ve had in all of Sri Lanka, a fabulous spa, and a pristine and almost private beach. Just lounging on those beach chairs, watching/listening to the of the waves while sipping on a coconut…pure bliss!

Our stay at Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle was a perfect and magical experience and one that mom and I are still talking about five months later. It was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka and I would hands down book another stay at this place - only change is next time I need to book for atleast 5 days :)

Everything about this hotel is brilliant. The rooms. The pool. The setting. The facilities (gym, yoga, tennis etc). The food. The fab places to drink sundowners. But what brings all this together is their people. From the pool guys who go out of their way to sort a bed… to the room attendant who made a lobster out of a towel. And to the people in the restaurant and buffet. A particular applause to Isuri who was there at breakfast and dinner and who was fantastic. .

Very charming place and amazing experience!
We had dinner with a delicious starter (salami & cheese cold plate) and a very tasty lasagna (the best of my life) - we ate better than in Italy.
We received a free apetizer & chocolate pralines. It was a very nice surprise!
The staff was very welcoming, professional and attentive!
We will come back for sure as this was the best experience in Sri Lanka! <3
I really recommend the resort! 10/10

The absolute best location for a relaxing vacation. We went there for our honeymoon and the place lived up to all our expectations. The staff was extremely nice and the buffets were really good too.

On arrival you are greeted by a conch shell being blown and traditional singing greeting. Which sets the mood and is a wonderful way to enter the hotel.

When we arrived check in was slightly overwhelmed with the amount of guests but the staff looked to be working hard to get everyone to their rooms.

We were introduced to our host Shafras Nawas who was on hand to help with anything we needed during our stay. He couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful, we had some issues with our initial room but within a few hours this was resolved. Shafras was great especially when we needed a doctors appointment.

The food at each restaurant was delicious and served quickly.

The pool was wonderful with a good range of sun loungers. Also the beach was great with the sun loungers in between the trees.

The down side to the hotel is the Tax, service and city levy which is charged on every drink and meal time which we didn’t experience anywhere else in Sri Lanka. We stayed in various similar hotels in Sri Lanka and in Anantara was the most expensive before the added taxes we encountered straight forward bills everywhere else we stayed.

This was a shame as the hotel is really wonderful and the location and views are fantastic and the quality of food is brilliant. The staff were incredible well trained and kind and friendly at all times

Truly a peaceful retreat.

We have travelled many places and this is one of the best resorts we have stayed at. We were here for a week in February 2024. It is quite a long drive from Colombo airport (about 3-4 hours) but upon arrival at the Anantara Peace Haven you immediately feel totally relaxed. There is a very nice traditional greeting ceremony which makes you feel welcome and check in takes place in an open airy lounge. We were then greeted by our butler Anthony who took care of us the whole week. We could just text him for anything we needed so he was making all our restaurant reservations and taking care of our transportation needs to places outside of the resort. Big compliments for Anthony!
The room was spacious with nice amenities of high quality. We had a private terrace with a small lush garden all to ourselves. Room was serviced twice daily and we always got the things we needed.
The hotel has the most beautiful and very well maintained gardens. There is a guy who climbs the coconut palm trees to harvest the king coconuts that are handed out to hotel guests which is great to see.
The pools are very clean and beautiful, nice detail is that you can really swim laps because they are both about 30m long!
The beach is spectacularly beautiful and really enjoyable to stay and relax at for several hours in the shadow of the palm trees. Swimming in the ocean was a challenge but jumping in the waves a lot of fun, we really enjoyed that.
The life guards are very kind and tell you where it’s better to swim or not.
The restaurants at the resort are all great. The main buffet style restaurant serves an abundant breakfast every morning and serves dinner which has a different theme every evening and there are always more than plenty of options to choose from. Although we are not big fans of buffets this restaurant and its staff was excellent. One evening we went to Il Mare and had superb Italian food and wine. We tried the teppanyaki one evening and that was a lot of fun and very delicious. We also had sushi one evening at the Japanese style restaurant which was a nice change!
Almost every evening we went to the lounge bar before went to bed, to have a specialty tea or an after dinner drink. We felt like being friends with the server Javee who was so funny and friendly to us.
The Spa was fantastic. A peaceful place set aside from the hotel in the gardens. I want to point out Dr. Shetty who is really giving great advice in Ayurvedic directions. His explanation and introduction to different aspects of Ayurveda are very interesting. I would really recommend visiting him.
That being said all the staff at this resort was super friendly and very service oriented. We could not have been treated any better. I highly recommend Anantara Peace Haven!

We had an excellent stay and Shafraz in particular made us feel very welcomed and at home!

The beach was nice and conveniently located from the room and the resort had good facilities. Oh and the Italian restaurant had some amazing food!

My wife and I enjoyed 7 nights at the resort after a 7 day tour of Kandy, Ella and Galle. Our stay was superb. The hotel is beautiful and is situated in wonderful grounds which are maintained to a very high standard. The staff across all areas of the hotel are happy and willing to help at any opportunity. Their service is first class. The dining options are very good. We dined in Journey (buffet style) and in Il Mare (Italian). There is also an Asian option. The food in Journey is very good and wide ranging. Each evening has a theme and some work better than others though this is probably more a matter of personal taste. Il Mare is in a stunning location and a superb spot for sundowners. In my opinion there is room to push the food to a higher level. I used the gym regularly and it is really well equipped and always in an impeccable condition with water and towels on hand . The beach is a further highlight - it is both beautiful and dramatic. The lifeguards are wonderful and extremely helpful. Special mention here to Nuwan and Heshan who were delightful! Overall, a fantastic experience that we would be delighted to repeat and are happy to highly recommend .

Fantastic hotel right on a lovely beach. Staff are all so friendly and polite and willing to stop a chat for a while. Everything is well maintained and the gounds are extensive and well kept. Food was varied and produced to a high standard. However, there is a need for more outside tables in Journeys buffet restaurant as nobody wants to sit inside with the cold air conditioning on a lovely warm January evening. There are a few local places to eat on the next beach which is just short stroll away if you're tempted from the lovely sunbeds which are so well serviced by the 'Sunshine Butlers'. Wi-Fi is free throughout the complex but connection can be a bit tempremental! We had a lovely relaxing week stay after our Sri Lankan tour. Would definately recommend this resort to anyone looking for a get away from it all break.... it really is a Peacehaven.

We had an incredible week-long stay here with 5 adults and one 14-month old baby. Truly every aspect of our stay was excellent. We’ve stayed at many great resorts around the world, but the service here was of a quality that is incredibly rare to come by. The team was warm, friendly and most of all masters of their craft. A few members of staff we’d like to recommend in particular are Suresh at the Journeys restaurant, executive chef Nuwan at Journeys & Il Mare (our favourite restaurant), Champika from the cleaning team and our housekeepers Sameera and Harshika.

Food at the restaurants was of top quality, impressively done for the scale they were working at, especially during New Year’s. The staff had made an immense effort to bring everything indoors due to unexpected rainfall, and we honestly couldn’t notice the difference.

The maintenance of the resort is impeccable and the facilities were exactly what we needed. There was great service by the pool where the views of the ocean never tire. Could not recommend this place more for a beautiful family holiday.

Amazing place, great location & views, good food & wine selection and wonderful service. By far the best hotel experience in Sri Lanka and the hotel staff were all very accommodating and friendly, especially the restaurant waiters and manager Irshad and our host Lakmal.
