I highly recommend this place, even for foreigners eager to savor Sri Lankan cuisine. After four days exploring the Northern Province, we finally stumbled upon this hidden gem. Run by the Army, the food quality is exceptional, offering a buffet with a variety of Sri Lankan curries, along with other food items, beverages, and groceries. The service was exceptionally friendly.

This restaurant was conducted by Sri lanka Army. There have all main 3 meals and snacks, tea and Nescafe any time. Food was delicious and reasonable price range. Place was very clean and lot of seating space available inside and outside. There is a clean and quality washroom which can be use free of charge and only clean rather than other washroom specially in this area.

a very good place to have your meals.. cleaned place with delicious foods like rice and curry and fried rice, etc... cleaned toilets and enough parking spaces. Most importantly there is a supermarket that provided consumer goods at the lowest price... Food prices are really reasonable... Managed by the SL Army.

"Thalladi Gimanhala" is a restaurant maintained by Sri Lanka Army. It is situated right before you enter to the Mannar island. Very clean, tasty and cheap food. They have both AC and Non AC dining options (no special charge for AC) Photo of the price list is attached herewith. There is another Army restaurant near Yoda Wewa which is 5-6km to this restaurant, but conditions are far better here. Specially clean toilet facilities are provided for both men and women. Ideal breakfast location if you leave for Mannar from Colombo in the night.

This place is run by Sri Lanka army and it's the best place to have food around here. They offer 3 main meals plus shorteats, drinks, coffee, tea. Very clean and reasonable prices. Friendly and kind staff.
There is also a vegetable stall and a grocery store there and restrooms for customers.

Only good place to have proper food in mannar. Maintained by army and place is clean and tidy. Buffet as well as fast food items like fried rice, snacks, short eats, juices, drinks available. Prices are very reasonable. They have one partition with AC. Toilets are clean.
Try their ice cream. It’s only 50rs, yet you’ll take at least 15 mins to eat it all.

This is the best place to have a meal in mannar... food was vary tasty, dinning area is air conditioned and very clean, staff were very friendly and helpfull... I fully recommend this place to have sri lankan rice and curry ( we were coming from jaffna and for 2 days we couldn't found any place which provide quality rice and curry for a fair price and finally we found this place 😍)

Affordable prices

Have been in the place, but did not have any food. Just went there to meet people who came for birdwatching. The place is ideal at a beachfront, to have a chat and to have a snack.

This place is maintained by Sri Lankan army vey close to Mannar bridge. It is very clean place with plenty of space to sit inside and outside. They have adhered to Covid regulations as well.
This place has a restaurant, a mini super market, clean toilet facilities and an ample parking spaces.
Food is tasty and very clean (obvious place run by army 😊 ). You can have rice and curry buffet, fried rice or short eats as well. We have tasted rice and curry and fried rice, both are very tasty and well presented.
The mini super market has all the needs, like snacks, biscuits, chocolates, soft drinks etc.. and personal hygienic items such as tooth brushes, soap, wellness items for women etc…
Washrooms are very clean and well maintained. Its free of charge and after this place you will rarely find a rest room when you travel to Jaffna side. So better use this before its too late 😊
Over all it’s a very convenient place managed by Sri Lankan army and you can have your lunch with out any doubt about the quality of food. Hats off to SL army and maintaining a such place for travelers. Cheers
