Boriam Temple

Great hike to the top. Very peaceful but if you have been to other temples around Korea this looks pretty similar. The view of Namhae and rock formations however is beautiful. Climb a bit more to the top to the peak for a better view. Great of you want some mediation time to yourself as well. Need to buy tickets to park your car and separately for the hike up the temple and park

Came here on a rainy and foggy day so could not see the view clearly. But I really enjoyed the view and the walk here. Highly recommended this place anytime. You have to pay a small amount of money to get through also.

What a beautiful view!!! I was positively surprised how beautiful it was. We visited in december, so it was rather quiet (less people). I would recommend to arrive here rather earlier than later, as one has to wait to go from #1 parking place to #2 parking place if there are many cars in #2 parking place. During winter, if it snows, there are chances that they close the trail while they are cleaning up the snow. (It happened to us)

The view is stunning there and temple generally looks cool looking with colors that they have on the temple wall. It definitely worth hiking all the way up there.

Ps: The breezy especially feels nice when you been sweating alot on the hiking there to get to there temple.

Wonderful views of the surrounding landscape. Be mindful of the weather as fog will hamper the views, though. After taking a bus to the main parking area, you'll still have lots of steep uphill (and downhill) walking left to get to the temple - about 1km. Once you arrive at the temple there's several hundred stairs you'll need to navigate as well. Bring appropriate footwear!

Beautiful temple that's easily accessable from multiple trail heads offering a variety of distances and difficulties to suit every ability level. There is a snack shop just down the trail from the temple (cash won only; try the seafood pancake!) with picnic tables and incredible views. Take time to explore, there are lots of great spots to take pics.

There are cheep shuttle buses to take you some way up and then you can just enjoy the well maintained hiking routes. I'd say beginner level hikes. The scenery is breathtaking though, absolutely worth it!

Because of time, I opted for the views from the temple rather than the peak and have no regrets. Quietly shuffling around for shots as people bowed at the shrine was interesting. There's a fee to go inside the temple, but as a tourist, you can see plenty from the outside without kicking your shoes off and going in. The souvenir shop was a bit picked over and dusty, so I didn't feel compelled to get snacks or gifts from there.

I liked this place so much! It was really wonderful, it is a must visit place in Namhae island.
There are wonderful places for you in both sea and montain site for you to check in.

아주 멋진곳이에요. Love this place! Hope all the construction gets done soon. Some places need some detail work.

Enjoyed the clean, fresh air walking up to the temple. Quite a long walk. Not suitable for mobility vehicles as there are some very steep sections.

The last bit from the temple to the apex is a very steep trail.

A long flight of stairs link the temple to the viewing platform where the statue of the Kuan Yim Buddha or Goddess of Mercy stands.

The view towards the Southern Seas is breathtaking. Puffs of white clouds break the blue of the sky. The colours of the sea and sky merge in the horizon.

The sea is peaceful. The mountain majestic. This place is part of the Taebaek mountain range; the tallest in South Korea.

Boriam temple has an interesting history.
Read it before visiting.

In Korea, fameous place is here. You can see the wide sea and quiet temples. I strongly recommend here if you have a visit.

must visit place for travelers! and def checkout the sunrise at Boriam temple. so worth the effort

Highly recommended! One of the best sceneries I have ever experienced in Korea. Just 20 mins walking and you will be mesmerized with the view

One of the best temple with surrounding nature!

A beautiful mountain, Geumsan means a silk mountain. The view from Geumsan is fantastic. Boriam is a small temple in here. There is a legend which Seungkye Lee, a general in Gorye Dynasty, prayed to a mountain god to be a king. Also he promised that if the wish come true, he would cover the whole mountain with a silk. Then he really became the first king of Chosen dynasty. But he could not cover the mountain with a silk so instead of that he changed the name of the mountain to Geumsan(aka. silk mountain). What are you waiting for? You should go and pray to Boriam if you want.
