Sangdang Sanseong Fortress

It's a nice scenic hike. Nothing spectacular, but nice enough to see the view of the city. It took roughly an hour to go around depending on how many stops you make. Definitely wear runners and active wear as I did not do that. Make sure to stay away during the rainy season as it can get dangerous.

not far from city centre. it took around 30 minutes bus to go. went full round around 90-100 minutes. Good place for hiking.

Beautiful place to tale walk with a nice view over Cheongju. It takes around 1-1:30h to talk around the main circle path.

Good place to go for a picnic in Cheongju. There's a little convenience store nearby if you need to grab some snacks too

Its a 30 to 40 minutes hike track. 1 km a bit steep but not too much and then 2 to 3 km its a normal walk.

Good hike starting from Cheongjuland 청주랜드 up to fortress. 3.4 km one way. Hike ends at fortress top so you can get sone great views of the city.

I enjoy visiting this old fortress. We took our two children to see it this time. There are others, but this one is easily accessible from our location.

There are some markets and shops inside the fortress. A flower park and a small lake.
There are huts/picnic spots where you can take your stuff and eat.
On the sides is the wall of the fortress. One can hike/walk on the wall. It takes about 2 hours to complete a round trip of the wall. You can see the whole surrounding area from those walls as it is on a high place. Prominently you can see Cheongju airport, whole city and downtown area from the walls.
The main gate has a lush green area in the front which serves as a playing area or picnic spot.

A perfect getaway from a stressful like or for a family picnic.

It’s an ideal for light hiking and very accessible from Cheongju City by bus. Besides, this ancient fortress is beautiful and has panoramic sights of the city and surrounding spectacles.

Beautiful at night and during the day. Today was a nostalgia trip, I lived here in 2007-2008.

Nice outing place just Near from the city.

This is a stunningly beautiful place, not only for the heritage value of the fortress, but largely for the bird life present (inc. Eurasian Nuthatches) both in the grassland below and forest within the site. Bring your binoculars.

It was a nice place to talk a walk, not too difficult for all age groups. It is an hour course.

Visited the fortress quite lateley in the afternoon but we were not disappointed. It's a lovely place to go on a walk and the view is just breathtaking. You can almost see the whole city of Cheongju with all those high buildings (try to find your place or hotel) on one side and the beautiful nature with it's mountains on the other side. I would come here everytime when I am around in this area.
We did not visited the village inside the walls but took the round on the wall. We took about an hour to walk those 3 km around. The way is not always easy to go and maybe especially not for elder people with problems to walk.
But just take your time and enjoy the view. It's worth it!
