The Red House

A tasty meal! Small menu served by the employees of the hostel, but the food was delicious! Would definitely recommend the Miso Chicken, it pairs well with their house red wine!

Fresh and delicious in a cozy, warm small setting. Definitely the best option in town! Great value for money compared to the rest, too.

Great food, great service. Trade your shoes for slippers at the front door and enter a cozy little place with brick-red walls, wooden floors and comfy chairs. An appetizer consisting of half a dozen locally sourced mushroom varieties served in a small cast iron skillet with french bread on the side was out of this world, and the grilled lamb entree was easily the best dish we had during our stay in Rusutsu. Diners can even order from a decent selection of high-end single-malt scotches to round out the evening. And our server Remi was attentive, responsive, cheerful and funny. She made our whole evening even more enjoyable.

The location is great, across the road from the main rusutsu hotel, atmosphere is warm and staff extremely friendly

Really good food, amazing staff, stylish and cosy

Some of the nicest food we have had in Japan!!! Mushrooms, arancini, lamb and miso chicken were all absolutely delicious ! Very reasonable prices and great service.

Probably the best food we had at Rusutsu! Friendly staff and a casual atmosphere. We tried a variety of dishes over a few visits. The food was always great and well prepared. Make sure to finish off with the brownie!

Best meal in Rusutsu! Great taste & lovely cosy decor with Japanese slippers. We had the sizzling miso grilled chicken followed by the Japanese pudding and hot fudge brownie - all delicious, and the desserts stand out as being awesome. Good barista coffee in the affogato at the end. It’s so good that we’re coming back tomorrow. Just a short 5-min walk from the Westin or Rusutsu Resort & much more affordable for a very nice meal.
