We were lucky enough to book the traditional Japanese suite when we had to change plans last minute. It was our first ryokan experience and will not be our last! The entire facility was so tranquil. Our suite had a fancy massage chair. It made me giggle at first since it seemed out of place, but really added to our much needed day of rest after so much walking around the cities. Also appreciated the two private baths, onsen towel/clothing and clear instructions.
Although staff members didn’t speak much English, they were so patient with our utter lack of Japanese skills. Food was fantastic; I especially loved the various mountain vegetables and Hida beef. We had to depart early the following morning and they still prepared breakfast for us. I’m so grateful for their flexibility.

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful ryokan. The room was nice and the private onsen is very romantic. Staff speaks little English but is very friendly and welcoming. Dinner was delicious and so nicely plated. It’s more meat based than other ryokans we stayed at. Easy accessible from Shirakawago by taking the Nohi bus towards Maki from Shirakawago station and getting off at Hiraseonsen (15 min drive). Then 1 min walk to ryokan. Highly recommend, we had a magical time here (especially in snowy winter time)!

Amazing! Everybody was so friendly and patient with us despite my low level of Japanese. Incredible ryokan experience as part of a perfect holiday in Japan.

Undoubtedly this is one of the best traditional Japanese hot-spring hotel in this area. There are two private hot-springs and one public hot-spring. The package includes one Japanese style dinner and one Japanese style breakfast. You can enjoy the hot-spring at anytime in between 3pm till 1pm. The surrounding is really quite and it will make you very relaxing. For the dinner, it provides the famous Hida beef. One of the best beef in Japan.

Absolutely stunning house, very clean and well looked after. The meals we had here were some of the best I gave ever had; very traditional and beautifully presented. Would definitely recommend after a few hectic days in Tokyo!

Amazing place to stay with an air of refined hospitality. By far the best inn-prepared dinner among the ryokans I’ve stayed in. Interiors were well maintained and service were impeccable. Location is good too – a short distance away from the Gassho-zukkuri village.

Choose a special room to have your diner and breakfast in a private room: an unforgettable experience! Public and private onsen are gorgeous! Be aware, this ryokan us far from being cheap.

Great onsen hotel. Beautiful and peaceful with an absolutely lovely group of people running it. The meals were exquisitely prepared and loved that there are also two private onsens. Highly recommended!

Nice onsen hotel. Not crowded. Near the bus stop. Both private and public baths are relaxing. Staff can understand little English but they are friendly and helpful.

Currently ranking very high on my best ryokan list for its price range. Dining was far better than my expectations.
