d:matcha is the best!!! worth taking a day trip into the countryside for the chance to visit them. the tour is informative and fun, the tea (+ the food) is delicious, and the Tanaka family is SO hospitable. really special hidden gem in the Kyoto region for those exploring Japan.

Review on the tea and website experience: I ordered tea and yuzu cookies. There were some issues with the website and upon reaching out to Daiki-san the problem was fixed and I was able to order without any issues. I also asked to have added a personalized message and this wish was also taken care of. It was amazing to have in my hands original Japanese tea and cookies and the person to which I made the present appreciated this greatly.
Attention for Europe: the delivery is made via DHL freight and the customs will be supported by the customers.

We took the tour and am pleased with the information, lunch, and teas we have tried there. The owner was very accommodating as we needed to change our schedule in the last minute due to an accident with my baby. Together all 4 of us with my baby and 5yo son were able to walk around the hill of tea bushes and enjoyed the surroundings. It’s a smaller operation which makes it more authentic. Their teas are organic and you can tell it is self/environmentally sustainable. Recommended to go there even though it’s further away from main city.

Daiki-san's tour was highly informative and his passion for tea shone through. He was also very accommodating in answering all of our questions while bringing us around the lovely tea farm and its surroundings.

Natsuki-san also brought us through the Sencha and Matcha tasting session which was truly eye opening and taught us about the differences in taste between the various cultivars.

A highly enjoyable experience and would recommend to any tea lovers and people that are interested to know more about some of Japan's agricultural production!

We did the matcha tour yesterday and were very happy!

The way there may have been a bit clunky, but it was all worth it when we arrived! We were greeted by the founder, who ran us through the tea-making process and took us on a tour across the plantation. Daiki is passionate an knowledgeable, taking us through all the details of his business. The same can be said about Natsuki who was an incredible host for the tea tasting.

We were served six cups of tea that highlighted the immense range of Japanese green tea, before being served a delightful meal and a tour of the tea shop

I’d reccomend this tour to anyone even remotely interested in learning more about tea, as it’s a fun and educational

I JUST left from my tea picking and factory tour and thought to write a review immediately after while the memories are fresh. My husband and I went on the tour for my birthday, and it was informative and fun. My husband does not like green tea, but even he enjoyed many of the samples of freshly made tea and food you get during the tour. The people who run the place are very friendly, informative, and speak excellent English. 10000 yen for the tour (about 100 dollars per person) seems like a lot but is definitely worth it. You get your monies worth and I'm excited to come again some time soon to eat more delicious desserts and buy more fresh tea leaves.

Amazing experience, the owner Daiki is very personable and knowledgeable. It is very unique and I had a great time! The food served at lunch was also delicious. The location is a bit far and check the website for detailed instructions.

Amazing experience from the first to the last minute.
Daiki san greets you at the front door and the trip into Japanese green tea starts.
Everything was great from the introduction to teas (including tasting), to the walk through D:Matcha's plantations and to a Shrine, to the visit of a processing plant, to finally back to the shop/restaurant.
The lunch was also great to discover what can be done with tea in addition to drinking it.
Finishing with matcha tasting was the cherry on the cake.
Last but not least, great to be able to purchase organic tea produce and processed by Daiki san and his crew.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This place is AWESOME. I did the tea farm tour with them through Airbnb Experience, and I had an amazing time. The owner, Daiki, was the tour guide himself, and his English is great.

We hiked to their farm on the hill and drank some cold brew tea there, which was quite delightful in the summer. We also got to pick some tea leaves ourselves that we later ate as tempura. The view from up there is amazing as well.

Then afterwards we came back to the cafe. They offered many tasting options (there are sencha, matcha, etc.). You can blend your own sencha tea or grind up your own matcha. It's a pretty cool experience.

I love the sencha that they have. The Okumidori Sencha is really good.

The lunch they offered was also great. I had their Ten-Cha Tan Tan Noodles, which was Japanese Noodles sprinkled with green tea leaves on top. It was really good. I also had ice cream (matcha and hojicha) which was unreal.

This place is definitely worth a visit if you're in Osaka / Kyoto / Nara area.

This is a MUST do and MST visit if you are in the Kyoto/Nara/Osaka area. The Matcha Grinding Tea Farm Tour (with lunch) is well worth the ¥10,000 value. Daiki and his staff are phenomenal, knowledgeable, and so inviting. Daiki emailed me and picked me and the other tour members from the train station, taught us a cultural lesson in tea agriculture and business, took us to one of their plots to pick leaves (to use later with lunch) and more! You get to try so much tea and enjoy a full lunch entree. They sell their products for a reasonable price and most are organic. I was extremely impressed!

Lovely little matcha cafe in an area surrounded by Japanese tea plantations. Loved the food here as well. The shop attendant here was so nice to explain to us a little about Japanese tea and how best to enjoy it. Recommend trying their matcha ice cream too for dessert ! Sure does hit the spot :)

Amazing experience tasting flights of premium, single origin tea at Daiki’s cafe and touring rare organic tea farms with him to see the source for your self. 800+ year history of tea in the area, formerly of the emperor’s estate. Definitely worth the trip from Kyoto, easy train and bus ride from the Nara line. Very peaceful, away from the crowds of tourists. We booked the experience on Airbnb.

This is a great cafe with tasty lunch options and an excellent introduction to Japanese green tea varieties. The staff speak good English and are very friendly. Coming here was a highlight of my trip and a great escape for the crowds of tourists in nearby cities.

We are so glad we visited d'Matcha in July of '23 when spending 4 days in Kyoto. The plantation is a passion project and we are thrilled we were able to support their mission! Everything described in the itinerary posted on their website is 100% accurate. Once we booked our tour, we received comprehensive information about how to reach their site in the countryside. We learned valuable information about tea, loved having a private tour of the tea fields, enjoyed picking tea leaves, and tasted different teas. Lunch was included as advertised; the Sencha pasta was absolutely delicious! Wishing Daiki and his family much success as they continue to pursue their dream.

Excellent and healthy food but a bit limited in choices. Book them for the tea farm and factory tour for a complete Japan tea experience.

Five of us ate lunch, had tea, cake and ice cream at Daiki’s cafe before starting our pre-reserved tour of the tea farms. Daiki drove us to see some beautiful tea farm views and a picturesque 500 year-old shrine. We picked some tea leaves on his property. He patiently answered all our questions about the town and tea farms. We then went back to his cafe where he flash fried the tea leaves we picked for us to taste. Afterward, he showed us how to grind tea leaves to make matcha powder. His sweet coworker then taught us how to make a variety of sencha and matcha teas. We tasted 3 sencha and 3 matcha teas. It was interesting and very well organized.

Our group of 10 had an extraordinary experience at D:Matcha. ?Amazing and informative tour, comprehensive description and tasting of tea varieties and a delicious lunch. The pesto pasta made with tea instead of basil is a can't miss.

If you like matcha, sencha, houjicha and Japanese tea culture in general then Wazuka is not to be missed. Even though this town has only 4000 residents, it produces 40% of the famous Uji tea varieties. You can explore the tea farms, participate in tea tasting sessions, and enjoy tea-related food like matcha latte, matcha cookie, matcha chocolate, etc. You can also do an Airbnb Experiences tour with the owner of d:matcha, who’s very friendly and knowledgeable.

We did the tea farm and tasting tour and it was an amazing experience! The highlight of our trip to Japan. The owner is very knowledgeable and you can tell how passionate he is about what he does. Loved getting to taste all the different kinds of sen-cha and matcha and the lunch and treats that were included were all so delicious! Definitely would recommend this experience to anyone coming to Japan.
