Kuon-ji

Morning prayer can be joined for free at 530/6am. Stayed at Kakurinbo nearby in order to attend.

Amazing. Attend the service in the morning if you can. The ropeway was also incredible.

It’s a beautiful place. We took the ropeway up to the observation deck and also walked around the vicinity of Kuon-ji.

Absolutely gorgeous temple.

There is many stories written about Kuonji and they are all right. This temple is magnificent, vast and very beautiful. We were lucky and got a tour from one of the volunteer guide, who took us through the entire complex. I can highly recommend coming to Minobu and visiting Kuonji, you will have unforgettable experience.

The most beautiful place I've seen , you may take Time to see everything , there's a ropeway ,a museum , the temple , AND you may try to take the stairs between a so many gigantic trees

Wonderful place to visit especially with the sakura in bloom. There is a nearby cable car that’s fun to go up.

This holy place of nichiren shu. Very beautiful and sacred. Came to player and meditation.. stay 3 days for this atmospher. You can felt the peace and holy.

Over 2+ months in Japan I've been to over 140+ temples and counting, but this was a unique experience. You can wander anywhere in the buildings for free, monks greet and bow no matter where you are, and you can really appreciate the atmosphere and sacred nature of the place - recommend sitting in on at least one of the prayer sessions !

Kuonji is the Nichiren Shu head temple. It is worth to travel to Yamanashi prefecture to visit this temple and area. You can collect your goshuin at the temple's office. While waiting for it, get some rest with a cup of tea (chilled or hot).

I can not tell how amazing this place is you have to experience it for yourself as your path is your own if seeking enlightenment recite this fraise yet it is just the beginning Nan-Myou-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyou

Just an absolutely beautiful place and being allowed to be at the morning prayer was an incredible experience.

A Buddhist temple that is the headquarters of the Nichiren sect, a Buddhist sect. The huge temple is built on a mountain, and near this temple you can take a cable car to the summit of Mt. Minobu, which is 1,153 meters high. The temple itself is beautiful, but you should definitely go up on a hill and enjoy an amazing view.

Incredibly beautiful temple-town in the mountains. Particularly during the sakura blooming (late March). Try walking the straps to the temple, if not, there are both a smoother road and a cable car.

-This is considered the headquarter of Buddhist Monk training in Japan & so you’ll witness many young Buddhist Monk too which is a very good sight

-There land area is huge & the architecture is beautiful

-There is no entry ticket or any other kind of charges unless you buy anything from inside’s shops

-There is a free big elevator (like a cable cart) to go up the temple area

-There morning prayer can be attended (free) from 05:30 AM to around 07:00 AM

-The experience of attending the prayer is vibrating

The ropeway is incredible, you can enjoy an amazing view in the summer and the beautiful snow in the winter. Recommended

Amazing place. I highly recommend for all foreigners visiting Japan. It is my picture perfect area of what I see when I think about Japan.

An awesome temple with one of the best/steepest staircases you will ever encounter.

Very quiet and clean place, you can feel spirituality here.
