ACAO FOREST

Ended up here by accident, but it was a beautifully maintained forest/garden. When you get there, you pay a small fee to be ridden on a bus to the top of the mountain and then you start to make your way down. It's not that bad of a climb but if you have leg problems you may want to consider taking the bus down which I saw some people do!

2k yen entry. They bus you to the top so you can walk back down. We went in April and the tulips were stunning, as was the view. Absolutely gorgeous, definitely recommend!

This place has been one of the highlights of my trip to Japan thus far. Delicious lavender ice cream, then you take a bus to the top of the park and meander down through the various gardens. They were beautiful and meticulously well kept. One of the main attractions was a swing towards the edge of the cliff— people were lining up 20-30 mins for that Instagram moment. 1000 yen ticket to enter, well worth it.

love the place but better to go there in the spring and autumn, summer is so hot can't enjoy much, coeda restaurant is nice, the view are beautiful, most popular spots might need to fall in lines like the swing and the spot in front of coeda.went aug and theres not much flowers blooming.

A beautiful place that is a must visit when in Atami. It is expansive so go early in the day so you have plenty of time to explore.

It's a little bit far away from the Atami station, but its easy to arrive by bus. The roses in summer are so beautiful that it's definitely worth spending time here to take pictures and enjoy the garden and the sea view!

One of the leading rose gardens in the world, this garden boasts 4,000 rose bushes of 600 varieties.
On top of the rose-covered hill is a cafe designed by world-famous architect Kengo Kuma, who also designed the New National Stadium in Japan.
Huge pines have been planted here, creating a photo spot for guests from overseas.

Hours: 9:00-17:00 (Park admission: Until 16:00)
Regular holidays: Tuesdays in December and January (open from December 29 to January 3). Closed during stormy weather.

Beautiful place, situated in the heart of the mountain. The gardens are well looked after with so many different kinds of plants and flowers

Neat flower garden on a hill with fantastic views of the coast. Way too crowded on a holiday weekend so learn from my mistake and try to visit on a weekday if possible.

Lovely place. Short shuttle bus takes you to the top for a leisurely walk down.
