Environment: excellent for biking, really loved it. Enjoy the lake view and good exercise.
Room: big room and bed is good for sleep, love it. But due to no aircon to cool down instead it was only heating. It was a bit too warm for me. Maybe because it was cold outside and the whole hotel only open up the heater.
Food: had grill beef lunch, not expensive but I do not like the food though
Breakfast: great view and food was nice
They have transportation to train station and was convenient.
I was staying around birthday time and got a small surprise of staff and service was excellent

It's my most favorite Marriott property stay.
We are here to celebrate anniversary with kids and thanks for the bonvoy status for updating to junior suite.
The in-room open air hotspring is amazing! You can completely enjoy the relax moment with the lake view.
Its a very family welcome hotel, every staff are so friendly to the kids.
A so unforgettable memory here, we will definitely coming back for the next time :)

There are some details below if you'd like. The short version is to stay here if you can. It's a great place.
I would like to call out Rosie from Nepal who works mostly in the lobby. She is very kind and speaks amazing English. They need 10 more employees like her.
We were here for 6 nights doing family stuff, not business. I am platinum with Marriott so breakfast and lounge were included.
Check-in was pretty smooth, I don't speak Japanese and the person I was working with didn't speak English. They defaulted to giving us the breakfast coupons and upgraded to a larger room facing the lake. Beautiful view.
The room has 2 double beds. Enough for 2 full size adults in each bed. Nice bathroom and tub. Shampoo, soap, etc.
The lounge has free snacks, drinks and in the evening the bartender whips up mixed drinks. Plenty of good stuff and great service.
The 12th floor restaurant has amazing views of the lake and the mountains. Look for the hawks buzzing the building.
The dinner menu is a mix, from burgers to steaks. We had burgers and fuzzy navels. All good.
Get the breakfast. Even if you have to pay for it separately 😉. It's buffet style and they'll take your egg order and cook fresh. I was in omelet heaven.
You'll love the staff in the restaurant. Nice people and they went out of their way to help us navigate.
The planetarium is only in Japanese but still worth seeing. The visuals are easy to follow even if you can't follow the narrator.
We used the laundromat down by the onsen. Only takes coins but easy to use. The nice lady working the desk in the gym helped us get started.
The onsen isn't really my thing but it was nice and everything is clean. Apparently there is an automatic daily charge for the onsen. $2. Nothing major.
So this is really long, I'll wrap up with free and easy parking if you dare to drive.
Shuttle back to the train station and we're headed back to Texas.
I hope we get to visit again.

I hope to return some day. The next time, however, I will insist on a lake view. The hotel was impressively clean and the service beyond our expectation. Breakfast in 12F dining room, excuisite. Thank you, Marriott Lake Biwa.
Also, travelers be aware of the checkout taxes. They were a suprise but that was a result of no communication from our booking agent. Still worth a visit.

Don’t get fooled by the outside looks of the Hotel, ones you arrive you will be positive surprised by a fully newly renovated Hotel, friendly staff and good food. Nice large Rooms new bathrooms with all the amenities and a private Onsen built in your Shower in some premium room, and others have it near the Window. All rooms nicely done to international standards. Staff is friendly and most speak English. Have sports facilities attached to the hotel, so plenty of things to do. Also have bike rental shop, swimming pool. Can only recommend

Great service, great location.
We stayed a room on 9th floor, which had a private hot spring bath in it.
The room, it had 2 double beds and one extra single bed, was big enough for our family of four and the view from that room might be one the best angles of the Lake Biwa.
We’ve just checked out though, I really wanna come back soon later….

Perfect stay with kids, plenty of activities on site of the hotel (even if raining) and nearby if you can drive. Lunch on the 12th floor was good with lovely lake views, and from the room as well. Thanks also to the hotel team for warm and professional service overall.

Nicely done fish and chicken dishes, properly presented and accompanied by buffet line of starters and desserts. Just what you’d expect at a Marriott property. Great views of the lake. The restaurant atmosphere was intimate, great service staff and not noisy. Loved the tableware and furniture.

Enjoyed our stay overall. Onsen in the room was nice. Room was spacious with sofa by the window to enjoy the lake view.
Lounge was too busy for comfort during covid, but staff was flexible enough to provide takeout box so we could bring food and drinks back to our room.
Sports center is cool. Mini driving range was 550 yen per hour and can also rent clubs (extra 700 yen).
Nearby Lake Biwa area is very relaxing. Bike rental was a bit pricey (4000+ yen for 5 hours).

Beautiful lake view hotel at lake biwa. Great amenities and their Platinum longer service included a full service meal from 17-20:00. It's a great place to bring elderly people because of the in room bath and a planetarium next to the hotel. Excellent in room service everywhere.

This is the best hotel I've stayed at in a very long time. The staff, room, lobby are all amazing. The GM even came out while I was checking in and greeted me and told me about the local tea while also getting me a cup to enjoy it. Evening gold/platinum benefits includes free h'dourves, drinks and a discount at the restaurant on the 12th floor. I ended up with the Marriott burger and a glass of Japanese wine. Both were delicious and highly recommend. Just got finished with the breakfast buffet and that was also excellent. All of the staff speak really good English and make you feel welcome, this hotel should be proud of what they're offering. 5 stars from me 👍

What a scenery from this hotel at 11th floor facing to Lake Biwa, the biggest lake in Japan.
Impressive experience from checking in with privileges of Titanium member, free lounge access with one quest free at first floor, free BF at 12th floor, free bicycle rental and options of free wine red or white like half bottle, and other drinks with choices of snacks or Icecream.
Room is so spacious with Lake Biwa view but what wow me and my family is on zen jacuzzi in bath room for upgrade room. Or else, we can also go to level 1 for shared on zen. The amenities in the bath room is also branded, especially shampoo, conditioner and shower under Thanon-luxury spa aromatic products.
Lounge on first level is quite roomy with varieties of alcohol drinks from wine, beer, whiskey, gin, rum or whatever you name it during 17,30 till 20.00. Of course, they also provides snack and light food during then as well as free flow soft drink for whole day.
Breakfast on 12th floor is plenty of choices with a good quality of food and services.
A hourly shuttle bus to Katata station from 8.00 am to 8.10 pm from hotel as well as trip back like 40 mins after from station is provided.
We all love it.

Much improved since Marriott purchased and renovated it. The swimming pool unfortunately costs 800 yen extra per guest and the restaurant for the breakfast buffet had a line up after 8:30 to get in, but otherwise a comfortable stay! Great views from the 12th floor; eggs/pancakes/waffles made to order at breakfast; and the hotel is very close to Pieri shopping mall.
