It's a beautiful piece of architecture that cleverly makes use of its interior to showcase some breathtaking art. Some areas can seem a little high brow, however for how cheap it is to visit they really do encourage people of all walks of life to visit. They are friendly towards children too, the AH! Exhibition was on during my visit and had many interactive pieces of art to help encourage a growing mind and it was one of the most fun experiences I've seen at a gallery.

Overall this was a wonderful place and I'd encourage anyone and everyone to go.

Beautiful architecture and innovative exhibition of Raku Kichizaemon. It's a little far from Kyoto, but it's worth the visit. The buses stop right in front of the museum and there is a cafe inside the nuseum.

This art museum is really recommendable. Its design was amazing. The water surrounding the building gave me comfort.

Entrance fee is JPY1000 for adults, the museum mainly involves collections of artworks of Ikuo Hirayama, Sato Churyo and Kichizaemon Raku. It’s to bring us to understand the origins of Japanese artworks, and to a certain extent it’s actually a very good place to visit, very nice “floating” and contemporary building. I personally quite like the works from Sato Churyo, very lively sculptures!

After you get off from 守山駅, leave at the right exit, where you can find the right bus station. The time table of the bus has been update since Oct. 1, 2017 so remember to check the photo before your visit! Like the design of the water pool, which is really impressive with the dazzling sun light. :)

Especially, you must kill the "tea ceremony room" which is designed by Raku .
That is one of the master pieces of modern tea room and you can feel essential Japanese tea culture.

Inspiration just when you need it. The tea room is an insight into the mystery of the tea ceremony. If you want to experience Japanese traditional culture, genius of Japanese architects then you won't be disappointed. Great experience. Highly recommend

Just awesome. Definitely a must if you're in the area. The cafe here is also delicious and fairly priced. It is beautiful and the staff are so friendly and helpful--even if you don't speak Japanese.

One of the most beautiful museum building, very modern and zen. Must allocate extra half an hour for the tour of the super modern tea room, available Thursday~Sunday. Tour reservation recommended as it is offered only 5 times a day with a small group of 10 people each. Check first at the front desk if walk-in is available. It will cost extra 1,000 yen but should not be missed!!

A good museum with unique theme. The name may suggest that it's about something else, but this museum is actually founded by the Sagawa Foundation separately from the company (besides shipping crates and trucks, Sagawa really likes art!). There are rotating themes here. The place is very clean and the staff is always on full attention. The signs and descriptions for the articles however are usually in Japanese only.

Disclosure: I was given a free visit, but writing a review is not in the deal.

The museum building is a beautiful piece of architecture. We went to see a temporary exhibit of Alphonse Mucha artwork. It was an outstanding exhibit with an impressive collection of works. Getting to the museum by train and bus is a bit inconvenient, but well worth it.
