Amazing place to stay! It is on the pricier side but the perks make it all worth it. The rooms are beautifully designed, very clean and spacious. The staff here are very nice! They helped us unload our car, and our front desk staff that checked us in spoke english very well.

The hot springs were divine! The one in the building has an outdoor onsen where you can view lanterns which was so magical. The hotspring that was a walk from the building was also very quaint and i loved that they had an outdoor seating area with kotatsu - lovely to be under the warm blanket after a bath.

The buffet dinner and breakfast were both fantastic! Produce, seafood, meat were all very fresh. You has assortments of dons, grilled skewers and seafood, soups, sashimi, dessert and drinks.

The hotel has a lively communal area where there’s the gift shop, open bar, performance stage and scallop fishing activity. You could also take a little tour around the grounds during the day on a carriage but we only stayed for one night so didnt get the chance, though strolling around the grounds is also very relaxing. Its only about a 30-40minute slow-paced walk and there’s even a foot bath on the route to soak your feet after your walk.

The hotel is around 1.5hrs drive from Shin-Aomori station. Would love to come back here again!

Absolutely incredible and worth a visit. The facility is amazing, the food is devine and the garden and ponies are magical. It's well worth a visit and it's nice to stay somewhere out of the hustle and bustle and to switch off. It's an easy train from Aomori and a short walk from the station.

Loved the room , outdoor onsen, and lounge area !
Really felt very chilled and relaxed during our stay there.

The meals were also superb, ie, buffet packed with good quality food and spread ! Felt that both breakfast and dinner buffets were very well organised.

The souvenir shop is also very well stocked with a huge variety of goods

A huge roykan that mixed moden and traditional seamlessly. It had a wonderful park to wander around in, and a lot activities to participate in. We had a relaxing massage (not included). There was a nicely large parking area connected, that made parking easy.

First things first, if you have the option, take the shuttle from the station. Google maps says it's a five minute walk from the station, but it really isn't and it's a bit confusing, so really just take it if you can. With that said, fantastically designed ryokan. The interior on the lower floors look like a festival and while it isn't exactly tattoo friendly, you can book a room with a private bath. Even then the food, service and the show (costs a bit extra, but totally worth it) make it a great experience.

An extremely unique hotel experience in the heart of Aomori.

Finding the hotel without the free shuttlebus is a bit of a task, so I'd recommend getting the shuttlebus if possible.

We stayed in a room with a private onsen and had a great time. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious.

The theming they have around floor 1 is really fun, with arcade machines, festival style games, apple decorations, shops, apple juice on tap and more.

The buffet dinner was hit and miss depending on what options you went for. In general most of the food was good, though some may have been sitting there for a while. The skewers and the tempura were particularly good.

The buffet breakfast likewise was a bit hit-or-miss, but they have a nice variety available.

The hotel staff are particularly good and we didn't have any problems communicating in English. It's a bit of a trip to get out here, but you can do so via the trains. The closest station is Misawa Station.

You won't ever stay in another hotel quite like this one and is well worth the experience if you're staying around Aomori.

If you have uncoverable tattoos, be sure to get a room with a private in room bath, otherwise you're unable to go into the public onsen. It's very much worth it, and the smell of the wood is amazing. There is a very nice assortment of apple goods for purchase as well as fun activities. The buffet dinner was full of a variety of delicious foods. Would highly recommend the Michinoku Matsuri-ya performance they offer. The music and visuals are very beautiful~

Nice hotel. Very festive. They celebrate Halloween and Japanese Sleeping Monster. The room is Japanese style. Old people can’t get up easily. It is hard to find a place to sit. If you are into Japanese-style flat Tatami Mattress, it is for you, but not for all visitors. Hotel restaurants are good. The hotel garden is very nice too. You can see reflections on the water. Great photos are taken here.

Room: very big by Japanese standards. Main room had 3 beds, with 2 beds in a connected room. The bathroom looks newly refurbished, but we mostly used the excellent onsen.

Service: most of the staff spoke a smattering of English at best, but service was still top-notch. Whatever they couldn’t express, they used Google Translate to get the message across.

What prompted me to write this review was the help they rendered when we had to catch an early Shinkansen. We had multiple big suitcases, making it hard to convey to the nearest train station by foot and the shuttle bus hadn’t begun service yet. Even the taxis refused to take us. The front desk staff kindly advised us to take the shuttle to the nearby Motoyu onsen which was a 2-min walk away to the station. When we arrived at the reception to board the shuttle the next morning, we were pleasantly surprised to find our luggage already loaded onto the bus for us. What’s more, when we requested that the shuttle bus driver send us to the station, he kindly obliged despite it not being the usual practice. We were extremely grateful to the staff for their attentiveness and going the extra mile.

Location: honestly not the most accessible of locations. We rode the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Hachinohe and transferred to the Aoimori Railway to Misawa. Unfortunately the train service at Aoimori Railway was about an hour apart. We missed the train and had to wait an hour to board the next one. From Misawa, the resort shuttle picks you up. It’s a short walk when the weather is pleasant and you packed light. Alternatively there’s a nearby airport also served by the resort shuttle.

Food: the resort is half board, and the meals are buffet-style. The 2 nights we stayed, the selection was almost identical, but no complaints about the quality and variety. The restaurant specializes in regional cuisine (scallops and apples everywhere), particularly good were the tepanyaki beef and seafood rice bowls.

Ambience: the resort is meant to be self-contained, with next to nothing to do around the area. The whole resort is culturally themed, decorated by apple-shaped lanterns and nebuta sculptures, providing lots of photo spots. The resort offers activities such as craft-making and scallop fishing to keep you entertained. Otherwise, venture outdoors and stroll around the lake located on the grounds. At night, partake in a well-produced performance featuring the cultural elements unique to the region.

All in all a relaxing and memorable stay for adults and kids. Recommended, will come back, but probably fly in the next time.

The night view of the hot springs is amazing, and the hotel is decorated with a great atmosphere.

The room is very large, clean and tidy. The hotel is very large and has 3 buildings (main/east/west). The hot spring is located at G/F. There is a souvenir shop operating from 8am to 11pm. There is free apple juice near the entrance of the hot spring. There is also wonderful performance at night but need to book in advance. There is also shuttle offered by the hotel travelling between the hotel and train station.

Excellent hospitality, room standard, the in-hotel shopping experience, the huge outdoor lake with red bridge, Shrine and foliage... for us to take a morning stroll, so well maintained, green moss, clean path..!! the Footpath by the lake and the view that made me feel just want to let go it all and just stay here to emerge in the tranquility of nature. Dinner and breakfast buffet was excellent, a wide Japanese variety with some western selection. Apple infusions are aplenty identifying straight away to us that we are in Aomori. The 9 o'clock show was excellent, not acrobatic, stunning or whatsoever but culture rich and fun and engaging as well, speaking from someone who don't understand Japanese. What's most impressive of all is that, we see the same 5-6 staffs at reception, ushering and wattressing at restaurants being the main driver or the shows, and just minutes after the show, they are behind the cashier counters again of the shops, great respect for how hardworking the Japanese are. Flags were waved as our car left the place the next day.

First time seeing snow after a long time in Aomori. The food and drink were delicious, and the performance was great. It was pleasant to stay there with my family.

Really awesome hotel to visit! The hotel is full of culture decoration. The room is space and nice! Dinner buffet was great. The raw fish and seafood and beef yakitori are super awesome. Free Apple just and the gift Apple alcohol are amazing. Not to mention the hot sprint. It’s such a great experience enjoying the hot sprint by the trees. I would definitely want to come back again! Thanks for giving us such a precious memory 😍

We had an amazing stay at this resort in the Unkan room. The private in room bath was extremely nice as we had a great view out of the window- even catching a glimpse of the mountains. The building is older, however the staff friendliness and spacious room made up for it. Lots of activities, however some unusual times but we had a great time and would return!

You can’t really go wrong with Hoshino resorts, for the price that you pay, everything is aesthetically pleasing and staff is always super professional/helpful (and speaks very good English).

I enjoyed Aomoriya particularly because the food is very good, both the buffet and the upgraded kaiseki. I also liked the matsuri section downstairs, there’s overall a lot to do to entertain yourself.

First time at an Onsen and I am glad we went to this resort.

We wanted to celebrate our anniversary there, and the resort stay was absolutely magical. We opted for the room with a private onsen which was magical, but it was the little gestures that totally sold it. We were pleasantly surprised at dinner with a slice of anniversary cake. I did not expect it and what a way to show hospitality and service. Will definitely be coming back.
