Chomeiji

Chomeiji, situated at 157 Chomeijicho, Omihachiman, Shiga 523-0808, Japan, holds a rich history dating back to its establishment. Great peaceful place to visit. 808 steps scared me a bit so I took the long forest trail to the temple. there was freat view of Biwa lake from the temple. not crowded even in Golden week.

Beautiful temple with great view over lake Biwa. Note that you must walk all the stairs from the foot of the hill (where the bus stop is) to get long life. If you only walk the last few steps from the parking lot your life will be short for sure. :P

808 stairs but parking available at the top.

It's a very pretty temple with a pagoda. There's a nice view of the Biwa Lake but you should be prepared to climb a lot of stairs to reach the top.

Worth a half-day trip. Even at noon the view of Biwa-ko is spectacular. The Tendai temple is no. 31 of the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage, and that is well deserved.

Nice and peaceful

Views... Culture...

駐車場までの道のりが狭いと色んなサイトに書いてありますが、そんな事ありません。普通に運転できる人なら問題ないでしょう。

麓の駐車場からお寺の方向を見て左手に上の駐車場に向かう道があります。右手にお寺に向かう石段があります。

石段はなかなかハードです。ぐらついてる石もあるので、注意してください。途中、地元の方とお話しましたが、最近も石段で滑って怪我された方がおられるそうです。

喫煙所は見当たりませんでした。

近江八幡郊外にあるお寺。
麓から本殿までは石段が808段あり、とても登りごたえがある。
頂上からは琵琶湖も見渡せ、疲れが吹っ飛ぶ。
雰囲気もとてもよかった。

初めて、湖東の　#長命寺 さんへ。
車でお邪魔して初めてわかりましたが、近江八幡すぐ近くだったんですねぇ！✨✨😃
二歳の次男の小さな手を握り、苔むした階段を登っていくと、広がる真っ青な琵琶湖が眩しいくらいでした。風が吹き上げてきます。
古く力強い木々に囲まれて、歩いていくと　#太郎坊権現社 もありました。有名な #太郎坊宮 の太郎坊さんが、このあたりでていやっと投げた岩などもあります。
境内は広々していて、ひたすら６歳の長男が走りまくって喜んでおられました。

駐車場から10分ほど階段を登ると着きます。

赤色が綺麗な三重塔があります。
厳かな空間です。

西国33箇所の御朱印を頂きに訪問しました。駐車場までの道は林道で狭いので注意してください。
駐車場から本堂までは、階段です。ゆっくり歩きましょう。
立派なお寺でした。こちらのお寺は入山料は必要無かったです。

週末昼過ぎ着
今回は車で8割程のとこまで行ったが下から歩くことも可
しかし途中の道は狭くセダン以上だとすれ違いがかなり困難
着いたとこはザックリだが10台くらいは駐車可

下車しまずは階段
普段歩いてる人なら余裕だが年寄りにはちとキツいかな？
しかし登った先は塔やら神社やら絶景✨
寺とつくとこは結構行ってるがまた違った良さがあり満足でした✨

ずっとお参りしたいと思っていたんですが、遠方では気軽に行けずに関西へ出かけるタイミングがあったため、十数年振りに訪れることができました。

ちょうど紅葉も見頃で境内の雰囲気と合わさってとても綺麗でした。

西国第31番札所長命寺は琵琶湖の東岸、長命寺山の中腹に建っています。3世紀後期から4世紀初頭の景行天皇の時代に柳の木に寿命長遠所願成就と刻んで長寿を祈願したと言われています。本殿には車で近くまで行くと駐車場有ます無料です？拝観料もいりません！私も長寿を祈願して参拝しました。
