Sado Resort Hotel Azuma

This is one of the best onsen hotels on Sado Island. It is close to the Sado gold mine. We took a public bus from Ryouzu port Sadokisen (両津港佐渡汽船) to Kirariumu Sado (きらりうむ佐渡). It took 50 minutes and cost ¥840 (cash only) per person. I called the hotel to arrange a pick-up from the bus stop. The fabulous ocean view from our room (see the pictures) will be unforgettable.

An absolutely nice hotel! The view of the ocean from the room is fantastic. The garden is beautifully designed with areas for you to relax and watch the stunning sunset.

The food is simply amazing. We stayed for 3 nights and every dish gave us a wow time after time. The local vegetable and seafood are just superb! When you stay for more than one night, they gave you different menu every night.

The hotel also offers free morning yoga, shuttle to the gold refinery illumination.

The bath is average and we also used the rental bath but you can skip as there is nothing special.

Overall super satisfied with the hotel. Sado island is such a wonderful place with beautiful lava rock formation and stunning coastline. We will definitely revisit again!

We spent two wonderful nights at Hotel Azuma and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a relaxing island stay with magical sunset views. Overlooking the ocean, Azuma has a beautiful back lawn with chairs, hammocks, or a swing for you to sit and enjoy the sound and views of the ocean and setting sun. There are a few staff that speak English too. We booked on Agoda and our plan only came with breakfast but that ended up being perfect. After sightseeing on Sado Island we would pick up a bento from a convenience store or Hotto Motto and have a sunset picnic dinner on the back lawn. I also went to the onsen one evening about 6:45 pm and since all the other guest were at dinner had the place all to myself. There are two private onsens overlooking the ocean you can reserve for 1,100 yen for 50 minutes if you’d like to enjoy privately with your partner or family. In the evenings there is free jazz or a local dance troupe in the lobby and they also offer a free shuttle to the evening illumination at the nearby Kitazawa Floating Plantation. When you checkin ask to be added to the list to go to the illumination as there are limited spots. Upon checking you’ll also get to choose a yukata you can wear while in the hotel (the obi/belt is in your room) and they have free badminton rackets you can borrow and ping pong too. You can also rent snorkel gear, water shoes, floaters, or fishing rods and they also offer sea kayaking rentals. Our room was spacious with two twin beds, an in room toilet and shower/tub, small fridge, and a sea view. There is also a coin laundry and microwave near the onsen on the second floor. This would be a great location for couples or families wishing to explore the island but also relax outside a bit with a gorgeous sea view. You will need a car to make the most of your stay on Sado Island and we recommend you stay at least two or three nights. There’s so much to see/do here and you’ll want some down time to just sit on the lawn outside Hotel Azuma and enjoy the view.

Amazing ryokan! The food was fabulous, the room very spacious and the onsen was just perfect. Staff is very friendly. I would love to come and stay here again. It's on the shore so the sunset is absolutely gorgeous (especially when you're outside in the onsen!)

The hotel has a wonderful location with an amazing view of the sea. by far some of the most friendly and helpful hotel staff I have ever encountered and the hotel manager is very wonderful and outgoing. The hotel itself is Japanese style which makes everything super convenient, comfortable, and easy to enjoy. There is a free shuttle that will take you into town.

Absolutely perfect. The best views one can ask for. The rooms face the ocean and you get some breathtaking views. Or you can go to the garden and view the ocean from multiple angles. If it's a clear day, you can see the stars while sleeping on a hammock. Epic sunset.

FYI, if you come by bus, take the bus to Kirarium Sado and call the hotel. They'll come pick you up.

One of the best places to stay in Sado. Spend a little extra money and get the sea-side first floor room.
A Japanese style room with all the fixings, beds, a sun room, a drop-down-window view of the sea, and a patio with lawn. On a sunny day you can see the sunset over the Sea of Japan right in your tatami room.
The food was fantastic also.

Absolutely loved this island hotel / ryokan. New Tatami room with lovely views, friendly staff that could speak some English and an outstanding breakfast with locally sourced ingredients. The parking lot is big enough to accommodate all cars. It’s about 50 min drive from the port to here and 50 minutes to Ogi where the Earth Festival is but I liked getting a chance to see another side of the island.

The stay was very comfortable, a great place to relax with an awesome view of sea from the room and the grassy garden.

Just wish we had more time here. It's worth just spending at least three nights.

佐渡金山の近くにある豪華リゾートホテルです。部屋が広くて、露天風呂付きの部屋もあります。ただ、グレードによって露天風呂に“シャワー・洗い場”がない部屋もあります。敷地内の庭から丸見えなので、3階・4階を選ぶことをお薦めします(一応露天風呂周囲に簾はあります)。庭は広くて散策を楽しめます。ホテルスタッフ手作りの白いブランコがあり、崖に向かって漕ぐと気分爽快です。外海に面しているため、断崖にぶつかる波は荒々しいです。浴衣も無料で好みのものを選ぶことができます。食事もとても豪華で、希少の“佐渡牛”のステーキも出ます。売店も充実しています。20時頃からホテルのマイクロバスで近隣の無料観光があり、21時頃にはフロントロビーでサックス演奏やおけさ踊りショーを無料で観覧できます。

とても素晴らしい施設でした。　一階のベランダの外に屋外風呂の有る部屋を利用しましたが、他の方が施設もよく確認せず噛みついてましたが、浴槽周りには簾が有り、プライバシーも守られています。　虫がとの評価も当たり前の話で気の毒な口コミ、リッツカールトンリゾートにでも泊まってる訳では無いので、辛辣なコメントが可哀想です。　なお、夜の佐渡おけさや甚句のイベントはま、もっと参加者が居ても良いと思います。頑張って下さい。(後ろでチューニングするバンドの音が五月蝿く、礼節欠いた演奏家が最も酷かったですけどw)
海外の方にはとてもおすすめだと思います。

Nous avons utilisé un des deux bains privés pour 1h avec vue sur la mer. C’était un moment magique. Pour un prix très raisonnable ! A faire sans hésiter si vous passer sur l’île de Sado.

夕食会場は海の見える席で青空から夕暮れ、真っ暗になり灯台の光まで景色の移り変わりを楽しむことができました。
お料理に夢中で撮るのを忘れ最初の1枚しかありませんが、素敵なお皿とお料理でお腹いっぱい美味しくいただきました。豪華という表現よりは体に優しいお料理という感じでした。私の好みだったので、とても嬉しかったです。
事前から丁寧なアレルギー対応もしてくださり、安心して食事をすることができました！

大浴場では、お名前シールが用意されていてスリッパの履き間違いがなく、とてもよかったです。
大浴場や脱衣所の窓の目隠しフィルムが低く、少し不安を感じましたが露天風呂ともに気持ちよかったです。

お部屋は畳にベッド、ベランダ付きで海の見える綺麗な客室でした。
鏡付きの手洗い場が2つあり、忙しい朝の準備の際にも快適でした。

夜には吾妻さんの北沢浮遊選鉱場跡ライトアップツアーに参加しました。旅行中バス移動だったため嬉しかったです。また、移動中に北沢浮遊選鉱場跡について教えてくださり、勉強になりました！

朝食でも素敵な景色を眺めながら、お腹いっぱい美味しくいただくことができました。

お庭も見所いっぱいで素敵でした！

我想這是佐渡最棒的酒店了，我們在這裡待了四天三夜，每一位服務人員的熱誠與細心、親切，讓我們倍感溫馨和舒適。佐渡美景的精華有一部份就在酒店邊的海岸公園，無論清晨或日落，都能夠很輕易的拍到最美的照片！房間與公共設施都相當完善，維護的也很好；或許有些人會認為稍嫌老舊，但我卻認為這種歷久彌新的感覺正是體現出酒店管理得當的精髓。

早餐與晚餐都是廚師精心策劃製作的，一道道的精品都是最新鮮、最美味的料理和食材，懷石料理我們吃過太多了，但這裡的餐食絕對不是隨便敷衍觀光客的那種，太太說足夠到達米其林三星的等級，美味就不再多說，從配色、餐具、擺盤（現在時值秋天，擺盤上就有楓葉，桌紙上也印製紅葉，這都是秋的寓意）……我覺得不管夠不夠米其林等級，但我已經感受到廚師滿滿的心意，這四天三夜的早晚餐居然都沒有重複，這點又是酒店細緻管理最佳的寫照，令人感激又佩服。

我們是2023／10／17入住的，這幾天天氣不錯，20：30酒店有接駁巴士免費載客人前往北沢浮選礦場欣賞夜晚點燈之景，回來後緊接著21：00在酒店大堂有佐渡傳統舞蹈的活動，先由資深的舞蹈家表演，之後再邀請客人一同參與演出，這樣的氛圍相當歡喜，期盼有更多的年輕人來欣賞，並給予這些年長舞者最大的鼓勵；21：30接著有薩克斯風的演奏……這樣用心的安排，我想是給予遠道而來的客人最豐富的收穫，再次真心的感謝。

日後，若有人問我為何還要飄洋過海來佐渡？我會毫不猶豫的回答他：是為了回佐渡的家，而我們心中佐渡的家就是“佐渡渡假酒店 吾妻”。
