Amazing staff, amazing experience, amazing place!
Great way to get close to Japan traditions.

Loved breakfast, it was super exotic, but not for the one with shy taste buds.

It’s some 20 mins from Kameoka rail station, but hotel has a shuttle at certain schedules, and you can get a taxi if your plans are different.

Quiet, cozy Ryokan tucked away in the Kyoto country side. Rooms were nice and gave a traditional feel, with a private Onsen and garden connected to the room.

The staff were extremely accommodating and did everything they could to make our stay and incredible experience.

Be careful of the bathroom sinks, they can be VERY hot.

There are a few convenience stores and restaurants about 1.5km away on the main road but not much as far as walking distance goes

Got the Japanese style room with private hot spring. Upgraded the dinner to wagyu version. Bit pricey but certainly worthwhile for special occasions or when you are in a mood for a splash.

Wonderfully excellent experience.
They provide shuttle service from nearby JR/Torokko station, so transportation isn’t an issue. Hotel and restaurant staff are very friendly, and I absolutely love our room with outdoor bath

Excellent service, the entire Ryokan looks gorgeous and the outdoor onsens are next to these rocks with water flowing down. Would definitely visit again.

Everything is amazingly great. First of all, the staffs are super attentive and helpful. Secondly, both the in room hot spring and the public ones are relaxing. The in room bath is outdoor. Although the tub is a little bit small, the quiet and attractive environment more than making it up. As for the public bath, they provide a couple different onsen, each one has a different function. When I went there at night, no one was there and I was basically renting all of them for free.

It was a wonderful experience staying at Syoenso Hozukawatei. The staff was very polite and helpful with setting everything up as well as translating for us. There are a myriad of hot springs ranging from indoor to outdoor, from regular to medicinal baths. Adding to that the rooms were spacious and cozy giving a nice view of the mountain. Finally to top it all of the food was delicious with multi course meals for dinner and breakfast that highlighted the local delicacies. It was a wonderful visit! Plus the pillows were amazing!

Amazing Experience.

The room
We stayed in a Japanese Style room. It was not too spacious but very clean and cozy. After the in-room tea service, while we were having dinner a Japanese futon was set in our room by the turn down staff. Only flaw was that the ensuite bathroom was very tiny.

The meals
Both dinner and breakfast were amazing as well. There was a separate dining area where each table was separated from others by partitions thus providing quiet and private dining. Especially, the Kaiseki dinner was certainly one of the best I had ever had in any Ryokans.

The public bath
There were multiple baths both inside and outside. Particularly, the outside baths were very quiet and calming. Although I had encountered other guests in the hallway, the public bath was pretty empty all the time.

The service
All the staff were super attentive and helpful. Although most of the staff did not speak much English, they always greeted us so kindly and tried to assist us throughout the stay.

The atmosphere
Unlike the modern exterior of the building, the interior was like a Japanese-themed amusement park. The hallway was very clean and quiet.

The greeting service
Complimentary pick-up and drop-off services at the train station were pre-arranged via e-mail communication.

This place has beautiful views, relaxing atmosphere and the staff was helpful. The food was delicious.

Wonderful place to stay, hot spring and Jacuzzi are great. The rooms are neat and spacious, the dinner is just awesome. Recommended!

Absolutely fantastic night. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional although if you're on the larger side you might struggle with the yukata!

湯の花温泉

湯の花温泉の中でも高級旅館かな？

初めてこちらに泊まった時にはその外観に度肝抜きました。

まるでハウルの動く城みたい（笑）

温泉の旅館でこの様に独特なのは初めてでインパクトはかなり大きかったです。

中に入って2度目のびっくり！

斜面を上手く利用した一風変わった造り
なんと言うか立体感があり入り口入ってフロントまで緩やかな階段とはなかなか斬新です。

様々な旅館に泊まってきましたが外から内から驚いたのは初めてです。

横広がりじゃなくて洞窟みたいに縦長の土地を上手に生かした建て方って感じ

終始辺りをキョロキョロしては黄色い声を上げていました（笑）

あちこちに装飾が施されていてかなりの老舗旅館らしいですが清掃も行き届いていて全く気になりませんでした。

平日だった事もあり温泉はほぼ貸し切り状態でのんびりと入る事が出来ました。

内湯以外にも露天風呂等ありますが道中が結構長めで冬だととても寒くて苦行のようです（笑）

そこを乗り切れば露天風呂にゆっくり浸かって帰りはホカホカ
寒い冷気が逆に気持ち良いぐらい！

備え付けのドライヤーはこれまた第2の苦行と言うかロングヘアーならいつまで経ってもさっぱり乾きません（笑）
持参が良いかも…

脱衣所に入るまでもなかなか色々と見ものなのも楽しいですね〜

1度目に泊まった時は楓という和室で朝食のみでしたが料理が美味しかったしまた泊まりたかったので2回目は2食付きで松と言う洋室でした。

丁度旅行支援を利用出来たのでお得に泊まる事が出来ました。

やっぱり思った通り夕食めちゃくちゃ美味しかったです🎵

後、朝食に付いてくる梅入りの茶碗蒸しは30年以上続く人気のメニューらしいです！

ここはまた来たいお宿の１つ！

外観は奇抜だが、内部はいたって普通の和風旅館。
斜面を利用したロビーのつくりは感動する。
京都市内であわただしく動きまわるのもいいが、一日くらいは亀岡でのんびりと過ごすのがいいと思わせてくれる旅館。

部屋

多様な種類があるようだが、一番リーズナブルな和室デモイン12.5畳なのでゆったりと過ごせる。
京都市内の宿泊施設の狭い部屋よりも優雅な時を過ごせる。

大浴場

露天は檜と石の二種の湯船があり、その時の気分で選べる。
内湯は湯船が大きい。
朝からあわただしく京都観光をした体にはジャグジーがあるのも嬉しい。

夕食

品数が多くて食べ応えがあり、美味しい。
丹波は高級食材の宝庫なのだから、満足度の高い食事を楽しめる。

家族の旅行で1泊させてもらいました。
エントランスに入るととても高い天井の空間が広がり、和の雰囲気が広がります。ゆるやかな坂の階段を下りていくと受付スペースがあります。受付はスムースにしてもらえました。
庭に露天風呂がついている和室の部屋に子どもたちも大喜びでした。私はビールを片手に温泉につかって癒されました。

旅館内の各所には日本の伝統的な文化を示す置き物やディスプレイが設置されていて、日本文化を感じることができます。外国人にも、とても良いのではないでしょうか。大浴場の前には江戸時代の見世物小屋、歌舞伎に関する展示物があり、小学生の子どもが見入っていました。歴史を感じられるのもよいところでした。

食事も美味しく、家族ともどもとても満足な滞在になりました。

よい時間と空間を過ごすことができました。
また訪問させていただこうと思います。
