Very interesting museum to learn all about tea, its production, and its influence across the world. Definitely participate in the tea ceremony if you have time (they conduct them every 20 minutes in the tea house out back), as it’s a quick but neat experience. The gift shop is great for buying tea goodies as well.

Lots of information on tea. Offers a lot of different tea activities you can do. We did the grinding of matcha (very basic, you take the powder home 200¥) and the matcha ceremony (drinking and also making your own matcha 500¥) wanted to do the tea picking but it was too hot.
You can smell lots of different teas from all around the world, very interactive. Nice gift shop and great ice cream. Loved the gyokuro tea ice cream (this tea is very expensive!!)

I think is this the best place to learn and experience the wonderful world of Japanese tea. It is about a 5 minute taxi ride from the station. Really friendly people.

If you are tea-aficionado who enjoy everything about tea, this place is a “must-go”! This museum offers you all sorts of visual, olfactory, and tactile experience about tea. The tea boutique in this museum sells various tea-related products! PLUS, the vicinities of this museum were charming.

It was a very interesting experience. The store is also nice and has convenient gift ideas. The only sad thing is that the restaurant apparently doesn't work during the week days.

Wow! What an amazing experience. Please leave plenty of time for your visit. You will need it! There are many experiences that you can participate in. I joined the tea grinding and hand processing activities. Both were interesting and fun!
Of course the exhibits are beautiful and have loads of interesting information.
DO NOT WALK from the station... or at least brace yourself for an uphill climb. The views are stunning, but it is very tiring. I took a taxi back to the station and it was less than 1,000 yen.

We enjoyed the matcha grinding and cold tea tasting experience. Unfortunately it was a heavy rainy day so we couldn’t see Mount Fuji.
The staff were nice to explain slowly for us knowing we are not native Japanese speakers (but we can understand).
Staff also called taxi for us to go back to train station

I took the train from shizuoka and a short taxi up to the museum. Here I was greeted with a small cup of tea before entering.
The exhibits were separated into two floors, one giving a nice intro and overview to tea from around the world, and the other focusing on the history of Japanese tea and methods specific to Shizuoka. The gift shop had a big selection of tea and sweets that made for great gifts to bring back home.
I chose to walk back to the train station, which was peaceful and a pretty view of the city and tea fields. There was also a tasty soba restaurant about 5 minutes from the museum.

Excellent value for money. Only ¥300 entrance fee and you get a welcome tea, lots of information and great views. At the reception desk you can also pay extra to take part in different types of experiences for a very low price! There‘s also a Japanese garden and tea house. The museum shop is also excellent with delicious matcha ice cream and more.

So many moaners in the reviews! It’s a nice place for a single visit. Outside garden is nice for a stroll and the view is also good. Can touch and smell the teas which was surprising. Can’t take photos because of some of the licensing and borrowed items in the curation- just respect it. Kids were quite interested too. Took about 90 mins for museum and garden.
We went by car at 3pm on a weekday and it was really quiet With loads of parking space. Everyone was nice, restaurant was closed but no matter.

Definitely recommend if you love tea or are in the Shizuoka prefecture, very informative about Japanese tea history and processes. There's a beautiful garden and teahouse on site where you can experience informal tea ceremony. There's also a display where you can touch and smell about 60 or so different types of tea from around the world!

Aside from a huge variety of everything related to tea (events, goods, souvenirs, etc), poems can be written about the serenity felt in the garden here. Mt. Fuji visibility in the background of this evergreen garden is just out of this world!!

Small museum with super great shops. The activities do require booking. So do come early to do it.

I rather enjoyed staying here and was also rather surprised to see the exhibition being rather big for 300¥.
Generally it was designed and arranged rather tastefully.
Fully recommended 👍 (by a guy working 3 years in an international tea company)
