We had a great time here. But make sure you go there earlier they close early like 19:00. And it’s not near the train station of Oita. But it is a great experience with the setting and atmosphere. Everything is aesthetically pleasing.

Very good modern art museum, with warm and impressive collections. Permanent galleries on the first floor, free to enter. Special exhibition on the third floor, paid to enter, but very cheap. Currently showcasing Japanese and European art, including a Chagall and Picasso.

Nice hangout spot for a day trip with reasonable price.
Recommend for those who appreciates obscure artworks and paintings.

Love the architecture part of the museum. There was a calligraphy painting exhibition, really enjoyed it. Spacious inside, can easily spent an hour or 2 here.

Nice museum. Just lack of english in some case. Overall it is good to take experience there.

I’ve visited here before Covid19
a calm and soul place in Oita I stayed at hotel nikko oasis tower that was located opposite, you can walk by skywalk and get a spectacular building.

Good place for a day visit. You can walk around for free and it’s only a few hundred yen for each of the larger exhibits. Also a nice little cafe on the second floor for lunch.

Great art museum worth visiting for the building alone plenty of parking if arriving by car when I visted in may 2016 as well as the exhibition they had a room of art made by local school children very nice to look at
