Akagumi Ramen

Knew this place from YouTube😆ramen and dumplings tastes so good👍🏻 but only have Japanese & English menu there , a little bit difficult to know the difference . Comment from HK tourist😀

Delicious ramen in a no frills restaurant. Service was great and the food was even better. It was SO filling. We ordered the all topping Kumamoto ramen as well as karaage. Would absolutely go back for more!

Ramen was good. Not too salty or oily. I recommend to order Tataki Gyuri, cucumber tasted very fresh.

Lively atmosphere. The staff are energetic and high spirited. English menu is available and provided proactively the moment the staff see me trying to Google translate the menu :) service is fast. One of the few restaurants that open late in the vicinity. The Kumamoto ramen is good. I especially love the flavoured egg. The gyoza is a miss for me, it's not bad but you could give it a miss if you have limited stomach capacity.

Had really value for money and delicious ramen for lunch. They put an every topping for just 880 yen. So worth it.
The broth was good rich in flavour but not too heavy it had some sourness I think from the bean sprouts. The chashu was tender and flavourful. However personally I think there’s just to much in one bowl which gives a lot of contradicting flavours and textures so maybe they can put less and charge less.
Their fried chicken 🍗 was the absolute bomb because it was crispy and so flavourful. It reminded me of korean fried chicken

The place to go if you want to try out Kumamoto Ramen. I’ve eaten a lot of good pork bone based ramen but this one stood out. The soup is very rich but doesn’t feel too heavy like most tonkotsu broths. Plus all of the side toppings rounded out the ramen perfectly and that for a really really fair price. The owner and the staff were also very friendly and super motivated! Loved the atmosphere!

Came to Akagumi Ramen before heading to Kumamoto Castle, which was an easily walkable distance. It was a good choice. The broth is rich yet rather clean in taste, noodles firmness just right, roasted pork slices tender and delicious, onsen tamago with the yolk cooked just right, slightly transparent like a Ruby. Ordering is easy with Google lens to translate the menu. We wanted to get the gyoza but worried we got too stuffed.

This ramen will energize your day and is certainly worth the try.

Good portions and inexpensive. The spicy ramen is very unique and delicious. Karaage is also very good and is a little different from usual with a bit of sweet and sour taste.

Very packed restaurant even at night around closing time.
I ate two ramen, one tonkotsu ramen topped with delicious chashu,Yokubari ramen, and one spicy ramen!
Tonkotsu soup of this restaurant is quite light ,not heavy as typical Hakata ramen.
Spicy ramen soup , you could choose 3 different hot level. I choose the hottest it was good!

Ramen was one of the better ones I had. Easy in my top 3. The fried chicken was very good as well. Didn't like the gyoza that much. Nevertheless 5 Stars cause the Ramen were top notch!!

Good and cheap food!
The waiting time wasn't long, and we got a really nice table for four people. Ordered the traditional Kumamoto ramen, karaage and gyoza. My individual amount was 1350 yen! I recommend it to anyone who wants to eat good ramen, tasty and cheap!

An excellent neighbourhood joint. The ramen was surprisingly light, but still full of pork flavour. The staff was very welcoming, and the prices were very affordable.

Comfortable place with space for kids. The ramen is tasty and the broth rich. We had the Kumamoto ramen and some cold chicken ramen (with lemon). Both were much better than what you can find in Singapore. The chicken karaage was a highlight. It was crispy and the sauce amazing. Prices were affordable - refer to my picture.

The restaurant is not far from kumamoto castle. Delicious 🤤 !!!
Must Try once you come to Kumamoto

There is no english menu but it is fairly easy to order the food by pointing to the photo in google review, thanks to other local guides. The kumamoto ramen is fantastic! The broth is rich flavored and not overly salted. The noodle is cooked just nice. The curry ramen is good too but it mayb too hot and spicy for others. I ordered the fried dumplings too and it is also good. Highly recommended and i would say the kumamoto ramen is a must eat food when u visit Kumamoto.

Found this place from the Kumamoto gourmet guide #2. it’s hidden in an alley. Good Kumamoto ramen vibes. Welcoming service. Big portion and at awesome price point. I tried their signature yokubari ramen. It has all toppings and I think it’s just awesome.

This ramen set meal with Karaage was easily one of the best I’ve had. So so affordable my group and I couldn’t believe. Very lucky to find and eat here.

Fried chicken was the best I've had in many places.
Noodles were great as well. - had the Supreme bowl that included everything

My favorite ramen in Japan other than tokyos tsukemen! Way better than issou and Ippudo from Hakata as this one was flavorful yet not heavy. We got the full topping version for 680JPY which was spectacular. Fried chicken seems to be double fried with sweet and slightly sour sauce, kinda like Panda Express sweet and sour chicken only way better! Short line to get in around 2pm. Highly recommend this Kumamoto ramen joint!!!
