Floyd's Pelican Bar

Bar made of driftwood about 1/2 mile out in the ocean. Give Respect and Respect is returned. Please realize there is NO Electric, No Internet, No Bathrooms. Bring cash only and a good attitude, and you will have the BEST TIME! Lots of dolphins are playing around. Pay with cash, the Ocean is the restroom. You have a problem with that. Don't complain or even visit. The fish have been using it for years.

Great excursion! You could spend a good amount of the day hanging out there. A quick boat ride over... about 5 mins or so. We paid $1000 ($6.75 USD) Jamaican roundtrip.

The views are beautiful. You can swim near the entrance and stand on the ocean floor (approximately 4.5'-5' deep in some spots). The water is clear, and you can see the fish swimming around in the water.

Chill bar area. Take a memory piece with you to leave behind in your honor. Shirt, license plate, picture, flag, etc. You'll also have the chance to have your name carved into the wood of the structure. Freshly cooked food option. Along with a small souvenir area. Music playing and great vibe!

The bathroom is primitive...only suitable for urination.

Incredible excursion - a must see if in Jamaica.

The journey is around 2 hours from Montego Bay. My partner and I did this excursion with the Black River Cruise and Pelican bar for £130pp.

It’s an all day trip- starting at 7:30am.

Pelican bar is a the last stop of the excursion. You are taken to the bar/restaurant via boat as it’s in the middle of the sea. The boat ride is under 5 minutes.

It’s amazing - the food is all seafood and was sensational. There is a small gift shop and bar all reasonably priced. You can also get your name craved on the floor of the bar. You can also swim in the sea near the reef.

Loved Pelican Bar in the middle of the ocean! It is a cash only so bring lots of it because the drinks and food are delicious! Bring an old license plate to hang if you want! They also carve your name in the wood! It's a great experience, we will be back again!! #onelove

Great experience to visit the bar in the sea. The food is a bit slow, so make sure you order it early. Maybe because we became hungry while waiting, the food tastes really good.

A MUST GO while in JA!!!!! Not only are the views 🔥 but so is the food, music, and the vibes. The water is waist/chest level, but does get deeper in some parts. The water is clear and warm. If you’re still reading, it’s a bar & restaurant in the middle of the ocean, just so yourself a favor and go!!!!

FYI - the boat ride to the bar will cost you anywhere from $5-20 USD CASH per group depending on how well you can negotiate.

What a hoot! It was so much more than I thought it would be. We watched manatees, had a bite to eat and drink. You could hop off and have a swim and bought some souvenirs. The breeze was very pleasant. I loved the many visitor names carved into the structure. The bathroom was a little weird!

Be prepared for the wait time for meals. Other than that the view is amazing. You get to catch the sunset. Everyone is pleasant and it's overall a great experience. If you've never been you definitely need to go and I'm sure you'll want to go again

I loved this place. Very different. A locals hang out in the middle of the ocean.
Fresh catch foods. You order, they catch it then cook it. This is not fast food.

This was an awesome EXPERIENCE and Mr. Floyd was there too and it was a pleasure meeting him.

This place is a must-see! Fresh caught seafood cleaned and prepared to perfection, they also have good drinks. Absolutely beautiful sunset!

This review is basically from 2017 and will be going this year for a more recent experience.

The atmosphere was very chill. They had good music, good vibes and great food.

I got steamed fish, which ran me about JMD$2500 each.
Drink prices come at a premium they charge like $1000 for mixed drinks and about $500 for beers. I can imagine how much they go for in 2023.

The water is shallow enough around the bar that non-swimmers can safely get in.

Basically, repeating myself: Super unique experience.

You have to take a boat there which can get expensive but that’s half the fun. Also, boat rides and prices vary from access point. We took a voat from Parotee Point Black River, which cost like 10 US at the time.
Have your boat driver call the restaurant first with your order as it takes a while to cook as there's modern amenities or facilities unless you don't mind waiting.

The food was great. Drink selection is limited, but you don’t go here for fancy cocktails. Just beers and those are limited in choice, too.

Tons of locals are hanging and helping out. Had an enjoyable time getting to know a few of them. Some might try to hustle you, especially if you're not a local cause they can tell.

Absolutely enjoyed boat ride people grerted us on approaching. I fould it different and exciting. People were pleasant, just relaxing having a great time.

I had some good laughs ...the bathroom is pee only cannot poo. There was a group sitting below steps of bathroom just waiting to see the expression on peoples face when they see the pee only room...hilarious. Thew woukd burst into laughter...priceless.

I was told by boat guy there was no bathroom. Use the bathroom before :).

Something to enjoy...novel. Food is available, bar and drinks.

Heaven on earth! One of the few places I can say I never wanted to leave. Awesome atmoshpere. You take a boat taxi across the ocean to get there. Once your there enjoy anything you like.

Incredible spot in the middle of the ocean to take in the beautiful clear waters in Jamaica.

Be warned that this entire spot is a ripoff but you have to go in mentally prepared for it. From the boat ride costing $25 to each beer costing $5 and vendors hustling you to carve names on a piece of wood, it’s all a glimpse of the tourism gotchas in one single spot.

Now that I got that out of the way, the bar does deliver. The views and the vibe is unlike anything else and despite the crazy prices, once you’re there and soak it in, there’s no where else you’d rather be. Highly recommend if you’re doing tours to ys falls, black river safari etc.

This is a different experience all together. We drove from Negril to Parottee Point in about 2 hours, followed by a 10 mins boat ride (costed us J$1000/person, to and fro). We spent about 1.5 hours at the place. Had a couple of beers and the fried fish was delicious. You can also swim around the bar as the water is very shallow so don’t forget to get your swimsuit. I’d recommend this place as a unique experience. The attached pictures will give you an idea of what to expect!

Awesome experience!
We drove to Parottee and got a boat from a bar there. It seems like any person in town can get you a boat. The boat ride cost $25/person back and forth. We went there with 6 kids (ages 1.5-5), were a bit worried about that but it ended up great. You can stand next to the bar and there is some room for the toddlers to walk around the bar. Just bring floats.
