Grand Hotel La Pace

Ok, it was 5 stars a decade or so ago, but actually the place has held up! You get used to the old world charm and decor. We stayed for a week and loved it more and more each day. The pool is great. The staff were nice. The half board breakfast is very normal and nothing to shout about but it feeds you and makes you ready for the day. We will definitely go back.

Lovely hotel, very stylish and excellent service. Food is superb we are on half board breakfast is amazing and evening meal is great, the soups are brilliant. Not for a beach holiday and buses are available to get to Sorrento. Highly recommended...

I see some negative reviews on here about staff and I have to say that that has not been my experience. Giovanni, Head of Customer Relations and present for nearly every meal, is an absolute gem. He was so attentive to us. He quickly learned our drinks order in the morning for breakfast (cappuccino for me, espresso for my husband, and a hot chocolate for my daughter) and would bring them over to us as soon as he saw us enter. One evening, when my daughter had a reaction to a mosquito bite and was very uncomfortable at dinner, he went and found some bite cream which he would not let us compensate him for. Another kind waiter found her some ice to ease the swelling. Giovanni, I don't know if you'll ever read this, but you made our holiday really special. There were others as well - a lovely blonde girl who always knew we'd ask for extra mayonnaise, kind waiters who went out of their way for us... too many to mention. The reception staff were always polite and helpful and all staff we spoke to communicated excellently in English. One person reviewed saying that they hover and pounce to take your plate away. That is cultural. In the UK, you usually wait until everyone at the table is finished before you clear away. In Italy, they often clear as people finish. I've noticed that in a few places I've been.

As for the hotel, the pool is lovely - fantastic views, plenty of sunbeds and a lovely vibe. Our room was comfortable and clean and very spacious. I would say that the hotel food is a little pricey if you don't have the half board option (we just did B and B) but there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance (though do be careful - there aren't any paths or pavements to speak of as you go down the hill and the driving round there is not for the fainthearted)!

Another option is to take the hotel shuttle into Sorrento for dinner - we did this with our daughter twice and the vibe was awesome. She loved wandering the streets after dinner with gelato in her hand! The coach is fairly regular and drops you close to the main pedestrian area.

All in all, Grand Hotel La Pace was well worth a visit. I would definitely return.

This hotel was absolutely wonderful. Upon arrival we found that we were upgraded to a suite. What a lovely surprise!
The room was very clean, and housekeeping did a wonderful job each and every day. We cannot say enough about the team in the dining room - very well done ladies and gentleman!

Very nice grand hotel entrance, it is very clean and spacious, probably could do with a face lift. But the staff and the team were very helpful.

It is located, 30 minutes walk away from Sorrento . There is a shuttle bus from the hotel, 9,10,12 and then 3,5,6, 8:30,9:45 and 11.

The rooms are functional, could do with teas and coffee facilities in the room.

Pool is lovely. If I was being a little critical, it could be a bit larger. There was always sun beds availability.

The beaches are small and full of sun loungers that you have to pay for. Their is a free jetty at la Marinella, get there early you can hire a chair for €4 and umbrella for €2.

The area us very busy in July and weather is very hot and uncomfortably humid.

Very good hotel. Excellent location! Shuttle bus is a great bonus. Always on time.

We have just returned from our holiday. I could write a long review but simply this hotel is great! Our bedroom was beautiful, massive and very clean, the hotel looks beautiful (art deco style), the food is great (real Italian cooking) and all the staff were professional, helpful and polite. In particular, I would like to say thank you to Michele and all the reception staff who were always helpful and recommended some excellent excursions for us. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

Very nice hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff and they have shuttle bus service available which is great, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel, highly recommend this hotel.

We were there for 11 days in September and enjoyed every minute. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are all friendly ( and incredibly hard working), the food is varied and well presented, the dining area is very spacious and comfortable, and the pool bar area is extremely pleasant to sit with a quiet drink in the evening. The hotel is slightly remote from central Sorrento, but the free shuttle bus service works well, and the semi rural location provides opportunities for fascinating walks. It could be said that the ambience is a bit old fashioned, but who cares, and the decor is an eccentric blend of Art Deco and Rococo - very distinctive! And Giovanni is a star!

We have just returned to the UK after a 5 night stay at this hotel. I would like to say we had wonderful hospitality shown by all of their staff. The cleanliness of the hotel is brilliant. Your kindness in giving my husband a bottle of champagne for his birthday, so thoughtful. We had a wonderful stay with you and have already been raving about you. I hope to be able to revisit soon

Fantastic hotel, the staff can't do enough for you. Our room was spacious and spotless, and also had the best air con we've had in any hotel before. View over looked gorgeous green mountains. The pool area is great, with stunning views of the sea and mountains, and it was always kept spotless, never had to worry about getting a sunbed. The food is the best buffet style food we've experienced in a hotel, lunch by the pool bar especially, lovely fresh salads and pasta dishes served daily. They have an extensive cocktail list (but once you've had the limoncello spritzer you won't want anything else!!) The beer on draft is Peroni so the significant other was very happy. The shuttle bus is very very handy as it's a good 10-15 min walk into St. Agnello (although do try this at least once as Tony's bar at the end of the road is great) and at least 30 min walk into Sorrento along busy roads. The bus runs often enough but be on time as it leaves on the dot!! Train station is again about 15 mins walk, so very easy to access Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius from the hotel.

What an absolute fantastic hotel and location.

The staff notably all the reception personnel together with Massimo at the bar were totally professional and couldn't do enough.

The room was great and just 2 floors away from the bar and pool area.

The staff worked tirelessly on the Sunday where there was a bbq and local dancing entertainment.

A huge thank you to the male reception staff who solved a huge problem.

My wife had inadvertently left her mobile on the bench at the shuttle bus stop in Sorrento!!!

He immediately called the driver who had a look around for it and then called the phone.

Someone has handed it in to the office and he arranged for the shuttle bus driver to collect it and deliver it to the hotel. This was done-- all credit to the honesty of the locals and professionalism of the staff. A huge thank you.

The setting, cleanliness , choice of food and drink of the stunning hotel made this holiday and we can't wait to return.

No hesitation in recommending this hotel. It may be a 45min walk into town but the location made it worthwhile.

Our anniversary and Giovanni head waiter made it a night to remember. We were treated like royalty. Food very good. Decor excellent. Staff very friendly. Transfer coach into Serrento good service. All in all we would recommend this hotel. Thank you to all staff for making it so memorable.

This hotel is a wonderful example of Italian hospitality and joy. The staff there were the most welcoming, I never wanted to leave. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the menu had many options which changed throughout the week. The drinks service was perfect with an amazing pool side bar open till late and a cosy bar inside with live music. On the first night there was also a party with the waiters which was so welcoming and a lot of fun. There were also events on other days showing traditional dances and clothing from the region.
I would highly recommend this hotel the rooms were lovely and clean and beds were very comfortable. I felt welcome at every moment, not to mention the beautiful pool with poolside beds and deck chairs overlooking sant’ agnello. The hotel is situated in a beautiful area of Italy, with easy access around the Amalfi coast.

A traditional but still modern Hotel. They have almost everything you can think of. Free bus service to town centre (quite a few trips 9 am to late evening). 2 days after moving in, ARIANNA changed our room from bath to shower facility, mobility issue. (An Alarm cord in the shower, in case of fall). This time with shower mat, kettle, tea and coffee facilities in the room. Then she asked if we were happy. In all inclusive, food and drink is provided almost all day, including in the entertainment bar. Music was so good. On our request they played a BOLLYWOOD song for our anniversary. I highly recommend it for service, facilities, cleanliness and value for money. Mr Singh

We had an amazing holiday and a great stay in this 5 star hotel. Very well placed out of the city, but with the free shuttlebus it feels like you are in the city.

Lovely hotel , beautiful decor and attentive staff , rooms cleaned spotlessly on a daily basis , lovely pool area . Stayed all inclusive which was excellent , the food was varied and of very good quality ,well stocked bar with peroni on tap and an excellent selection of spirits and cocktails , no extras to pay for which is unusual for an all inclusive . Would definitely stay here again , highly recommended .

Recently visited this hotel for a quick break and couldn't recommend a better hotel. Room was clean, food was excellent local entertainment was fun and staff Samuel and Nikki (as well as all the others) were absolutely brilliant. Ten minute walk into Sant'Agnello then bus service is good into Sorrento or there is a free shuttle bus from the hotel.

My Wife and I stayed at this hotel in August for 7 nights and it was way too short. We could have stayed for a month. The staff treated us with amazing kindness. We found all of the staff from the front desk to the restaurant all go out of their way to do what they can for you. We can't remember the last time hotel staff have treated us with such kindness. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
We stayed in a room with a sea view (highly recommend) the views are unbelievable. The room even had a small balcony. The buffet breakfast was included with our room. The buffet has a large selection of items to choose from as well as fantastic staff. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service into Sorrento in the mornings, late afternoons and into the late evening. The last shuttle from Sorrento back to the hotel is 11:00 PM. Which gives you ample opportunity to have Dinner and walk around and visit the shops. The shuttle service makes all the difference when staying at this hotel. Without the shuttle service taking a taxi into Sorrento and back to the hotel would cost a small fortune. My only recommendation is to get to the shuttle a little early as if fills up very quickly. As well the hotel has a beautiful pool with plenty of lounge chairs for everyone.
We will definitely stay at this hotel again !!
