This Palace is a must if you love Arabic architecture. The Fountain Room is just gorgeous, and so are the views of Palermo from the third level.
Such a shame the former pool and garden are totally unkept and neglected, but then again it might be a question of funds? 🤔 I hope one day they can be restored to their former glory.
I could easily give 3 stars for the outside disappointment but then I like to keep things positive, the Palace is gorgeous inside and as stated previously, if there's no money it's not really a direct fault.

Not a long walk from the centre. Very worthwhile visiting. We went on the first Sunday of the month when it was free. Dress warmly if you're going in winter or early spring

This is such a nice palace with such a rich history. This place is truly representative for the multilayered influences that Sicily had from antiquity until the modern period.
I took an audio guide to help me with my visit, and I can recommend it to you.
Could not see the famous mosaics as they are currently under restoration, but I had a good peek and the background story from the audio guide.
If you like history, it's definitely something you don't want to miss.

We were almost deterred from visiting this place after reading the reviews here. Much has changed since they were written. There are now loads of infographics and museum displays inside the castello. The staff are very nice as well. The entry fee is 6 euros at full price and 3 for under 25s.
You'll see interesting snippets of Islamic art in the Norman period, and the subsequent decline of Palermo. Absolutely worth it. Makes a nice afternoon trip along with the Catacombe not far away.
The area outside however is still a complete shamble, as is much of Palermo, especially the areas further inland. Small towns in India are more orderly.

It is amazing for travelers like me to see middle ages Asia style and early Europe ideas melting in one building: it has a lot of thing that are just not should be together.
Palace would open its design, history and more flavor to tourist acquainted with history and loving details. Start from the street plates and guides that are found throughout the city and in here in Italian/Arabic/Jewish.

It is a place which has a lot to say. Of course you should read something about it before.

Regarding the view and the garden they are nice and they give you a excellent panoramic view of Palermo.

Interesting castle. Few signs not in Italian but with Google Lens/Translator it's way too understand. Staff send a bit way of people (constantly following and watching). But worth the visit.

Amazing place, a must to visit. If you really want to perceive the Arab veins of Palermo, this is the place where to go.
It's a rather quick visit as the place is empty, but great to see nonetheless.
If you visit in summer make sure to bring water with you, the second floor is rather hot.

Worth every minute of the walk through a less salubrious part of Palermo - make the effort and you will be rewarded with a wonderful mix of Norman and Arab architecture - beautifully restored.

Beautiful palace, take the audio guided tour for a lot of information. Arabo norman architecture at its best, portraying all the civilisations coming together.

A part of the Unesco world heritage Arab Norman pathway is this castle. It stands as a monument to the past keeping all the artefacts and innovations from that time. Did you know that they had such a great air conditioning system? Without electricity, just physics.

I will say no more, and let you emerge yourself for an hour or two in the history while walking around the castle. Be sure to take a guide, so you can fully appreciate the beauties you encounter.

A castle in the unique Sicilian Arab-Norman style. It's been repaired a lot over the years, but many original features remain, including mosaics and the "stalactites" above the windows. It takes about 30 minutes to look around.

This is worth a visit. Although not centrally located in the city center of Palermo. You need to walk out of the touristy streets. I myself went through some hidden paths to discover this place. It’s fun. But maybe not a recommendation for one who isn’t not as Adventurous as me. Ticket is €6, they take cards.

The downside is the vandalism on the walls in the surroundings.

Breathtakingly beautiful. An excellent soecimen of what happens when you mix Norman influence with Arabic style. A must visit if in Palermo, all the more if you take into account the rock-bottom ticket price.

Excellent monument of medieval Normano - Arabic culture and architecture. Must see place at Palermo. You have to buy a ticket to get in. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo.

Beautifully rebuilt Arab-Norman castle. Fascinating to see what has been restored in brick vs. the original stone. A flawless representation of the original ground plan.

Get a combo ticket with Palazzo Abatellis and there you have a perfect afternoon. Also quite near La Cuba, which is worth a visit in its own right.

This place exudes history. Built by Arabs and ordered by the Spanish, I think. The engineering and architecture is simply outstanding. Definitely worth a visit because it fills in the big picture of Palermo
