Guesthouse Gerði

Had a nice stay here as part of our 2 day South Coast tour. Really nice guesthouse with positive vibes from the ladies who run it. We are vegetarians and the vegan dinner option was superb! Basically it was 'Dal Chawal' (as it is called here in India) with Veggies. For English readers: rice, lentils, chickpeas and veggies. We had a breakfast in the morning which was superb too!

OK, hear me out: Do NOT underestimate the food. I didn’t stay here but I had dinner, and this was by far my best meal in Iceland so far. I got the lamb and my friend got the char and we liked both of them. My check-in experience (for another place but picked up the keys here) was not the best to be honest, but I now forgot all of it with the food. Thank you!!

Best meal thus far on my Ring Road Adventure! Greatly appreciated the variety for mains (lamb, chicken, cod, char, and vegetarian curry with rice) to suit all appetites. Dessert was also delicious (rhubarb crumble) and standard breakfast offering with fresh baked pastries!

The best stay you can find near diamond beach. Nice and cozy rooms, very pleasant girl on the reception. Outstanding views in the morning)

Nice cosy cottages in a beautiful location. Very convenient location for diamond beach and the iceberg lagoons. The restaurant was nice and warm. The breakfast spread was good. The view itself is worth the price. Recommended 💯

The people who work here are incredible. Something went wrong with our booking, but they were very responsive in figuring it out and reassuring the 3 of us traveling that we would have a place to stay. I would stay here again and it's very accessible to the other activities in the south of Iceland.

I liked several things about this hotel:

Looking at comments I feel like I stayed in a very different place. I had reservation last minute (when was planning the trip all rooms were sold out). Staff very friendly, even arriving just before kitchen closing was not a problem to have warm dinner. Food delicious.
Room nice and cosy, but be honest, I’m here to stay over night, not to have 2 weeks holidays in one place.
Breakfast - continental - was above my expectations. Different meats, cheeses, porridge with variety of add-ons. Fruits and vegetables of your choice.
Prices? I’d say icelandic. Nothing higher, nothing lower.

We ate dinner and had an outstanding meal. Our waitress Sophia was charming and made everything perfect. I had the chicken which was exceptionally cooked. My son got the lamb and was very happy. The rhubarb dessert was yummy..

Best food around these parts! The lamb soup was excellent and the mushroom soup also very nice. The arctic char and cod and lamb mains were very well done also. We missed out on the rhubarb dessert. Maybe next time. A little pricy but worth it. I’m thankful we came in for dinner.

I had booked through booking, but I could not stay because of poor weather conditions in the area. I showed the property owner the warning issued by Iceland weather department and they immediately refunded my booking amount. They were very understanding and open about the conditions there. Honest people.

Very nice guesthouse with lively, warm atmosphere. We were looking for cramping with our van near diamond beach. I called and they let us camp in their lot for the night, come indoors for coffee and tea, and then use a recently vacated room in the morning for showers for less than a normal camping place and they're quite close to diamond beach. Just show up and they'll most likely let you camp in their lot if there is space (and there was a lot of space).

Great location with good rooms. The staff is really helpful and patient. We were snowed in and came in last minute. They tried their best to accommodate everyone. We had dinner which was also quite good!
Highly recommend if you need a stay near Jokusarlon area.

While staying in the area we had dinner at the Guesthouse Gerði. Absolutely amazing quality of the food. With lovely staff. Very helpful. Every dish was very tasty. Highly recommend.

Exactly what you need roomy comfortable basic accommodation. The staff are efficient and friendly and the rooms are a good size. Mine had a lake view which was a bonus. Breakfast and dinner were both nice with a reasonable selection. It is close to several sights including diamond beach. Recommended

The restaurant at this guesthouse serves superb food. The cod is delicious.

The staff was really nice. We arrived quite lately and they gave us everything we needed to quickly cook something by ourselves.
The room was clean, containing everything you can need.
The breakfast was really worth it ! I truly recommend this place !

Can not review the guesthouse itself but we were stuck due to a snow storm, came here very late due to street closures and could not reach our guesthouse Ekra due to veruz high snow on the road. The people from Gerdi were so helpful they organised someone who drove us to our guesthouse and also managed to find places to sleep for a lot of other people stuck here due to the snow storm. The next day they came with a bus to drive us and also other guests down to Gerdi again so we all were able to eat something because the road was closed for the whole day. Thank you so much for the support. All were so helpful and tried their best to help the stranded people.

The staff was great. The rooms are perfect to disconnect and rest. They offer breakfast and restaurant apart from the price
