Snæfellsjökull National Park Reviews

My November visit to Snæfellsjökull National Park in Iceland was a breathtaking adventure, albeit with its own set of challenges. The park, shrouded in a serene winter atmosphere, displayed a unique charm with snow-covered landscapes that seemed straight out of a fairy tale.
Navigating through the park's trails revealed stunning vistas of Snæfellsjökull glacier, standing majestically against the crisp blue sky. The juxtaposition of vibrant autumn hues and the glistening white of the snow created a surreal visual spectacle. The sense of tranquility was palpable, as I explored the vastness of the park, interrupted only by the occasional crunch of snow beneath my boots.
However, the November weather in Iceland brought its own set of adversities. The biting cold and occasional flurries required layered clothing and sturdy boots. The shorter daylight hours limited the time available for exploration, emphasizing the importance of planning visits to key attractions efficiently.
In the end, despite the weather challenges, Snæfellsjökull National Park in November offered a unique and mesmerizing experience. Nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers will find this winter wonderland to be a captivating destination, provided they come prepared to embrace the chilly beauty of Iceland's landscape.

We went on a very windy, very very cold day (-7°c but felt like -14°c). Our minibus driver (Troll Expeditions) was Romanian but spoke English very well. The Snaefellsnes peninsular is well worth a visit, if you have time. The drive is long but the scenery is so spectacular. The best was the last stop, Arrowhead Mountain, with a frozen waterfall in front and a wide vista of snowy topped mountains. Just wow.

Snaefellsjokull National Park is a lovely place to spend the day. There are amazing beaches and rock formations, the glaciers views are excellent, the visitor center informative, and there are numerous hikes and walks to enjoy. This is not a single place but a whole collection of places to explore over a day or a week. It’s definitely worth at least a day to explore during a trip to Iceland.

Gorgeous park. Take a picnic lunch and some water as there's nowhere to get food in the park. Spend the whole day

One of my favorite parts of my trip to Iceland was visiting Snæfellsjökull National Park. It doesn’t take too long to see most of the sights, and is more than worth it. The coast is a beautiful view, and there are many spots for you to pull over, take photos, or hike around! When we went in the winter, the norther fjords were not accessible, but we were able to still take in this peninsula, and I’m glad we did.

A smaller but still impressive glacier that offers great views. With a 4*4 you can travel rough roads to the very the edge of the glacial snow. It is marked on Google maps as the secret entrance to the National Park. As you can see in the pictures there are you operators that can take you up on the glacier. I highly recommend taking a however your.

One of the most gorgeous national parks in Iceland. An easy 2 hour drive from Reykjavík. Will be back again in a few months.

This was a beautiful and diverse national park! The red sand beach was very pretty and different from the black sand. There were a few tables there which was a great lunch spot. The labyrinth was probably my favorite thing. We almost couldn't find it and then we managed to stumble across it. The fisherman's hut and freshwater pool were also beautiful. There were much less people once you got away from the lifting stones and shipwreck area. There were so many things to see, I wish we spent more than a few hours there.
When we were there in July there were so many birds on the cliffs, including a few puffins! We enjoyed watching all of the birds.

Beautiful park to spend the day. Many hiking trails or if you just want to meditate, plenty of open space to spread a blanket and ohm.

Beautiful place. It’s worth it just for the drive along the coast. The cave is right around the corner so definitely worth visiting. Would of been better if I would of rented a 4x4 to drive on the other dirt roads but it’s a learning experience. Invest in a f-type car to drive everywhere.

Due to exhaustion and possibly overplanning, we almost skipped the Snaefellsnes peninsula. I am so glad we didn't! I think it was my favorite part of our short trip. To really explore it, I wish we had more than one day there. I would say at least two, if not three days to get to do it all.

Took a nice hike, went along the shoreline and explored the area, it was beautiful! Got hit by a fast moving snow storm that cut the hike short. Headed to the visitor center to get out of the snow. As soon as I'd arrived at the center, the snow stopped! Headedout again to see and photograph more amazing sights!

Amazing place. Be sure to bring your waterproof everything. It will most likely be wet and very windy. Amazing place to see if you can weather the storm. Also don’t forget waterproof gloves!
