An absolute pleasant visit to this small museum. The lady that volunteers there gave me a fantastic tour - the way she connected the exhibits to her and her family’s life on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula gave the “personal touch” of how the local lives have evolved over the years. Love it!

The museum is open now and I was really surpised how good it is. This now a must do. There so much info here about Iceland old days. Also a big bird collection inside.

The kids loved the museum and the adults had plenty to look at. The blueberry cake was delicious as well as the sandwiches.

Admission to this museum was well spent money! Lots of interestiing historical artifacts from fishingindustry on display both outside and inside. The display fits for both young children and adults. They had ducks and a sheep in the garden (fun for our toddler) and some ball game wiith rackets. Behind the flagpole it was a small path into a lavafield. Inside they had stuffed birds, fish and some animals on display and a small sandbox with seashells. You'll find Icelands oldest boat inside. Well written and interesting posters. Cafe with coffe ++. Staff was super friendly!

Informative museum passionately maintained by the local residents. This is not some of the small run of the mill museums on the roadsides in Iceland. Its sophistication is on par with the Settlement Museum in Borgarnes. Not surprisingly, it displayed the rich history of the fishing industry in the region, include tools, photos, old ships, and a fully built out turf house lived in my fishermen. Equally importantly, the museum has a good collection of taxidermy of local animals, birds and fishes. There are also informative videos about the local fishes and fauna, particular valuable to those interested in fishing in Iceland.
