We loved the food. My son and I were the only ones that felt like getting out after a long drive that day. It was the best food we had on our trip back in the summer 2022.

This was already our second visit to the Dunhagi restaurant since 2016. Just like back then, we had the best lamb of our lives! The owner, Dagny, and her staff are super friendly, and the guests are treated to fresh and local food. The dishes are incredibly delicious. The atmosphere is very cozy and family-like, and you feel completely comfortable in the restaurant. We received a complimentary dessert because of our recent wedding. An absolute must for anyone traveling in the area!

Stopped here on a recommendation from some folks we met at the nearby hot spring. Delicious and creative food, great desserts, and the friendliest, most thoughtful hostess. Best meal we’ve had in Iceland.

Delicious Icelandic food AND a flourless chocolate cake. We are finishing up our 14 day drive counter clockwise on Ring Road, eating at locally recommended places as we drive. Found this restaurant last night. Such GOOD food! Plus the chef/owner circulates and serves—it’s obvious she loves what she’s doing and wants you to feel the same. Wonderful meal and atmosphere, the best.

Really good dinner!
We had the scallop soup as a starter and was very good. The only problem we found about it is that the slice of bread was hard like a stone.

As a main course, I had the trout, and my hubby had the woolf-fish; both fish were really good.

Got rhubarb cake as a dessert, and I would have ordered the whole cake, as was delicious!

It wouldn't harm to have a bit bigger portions in all dishes.

Það var allt mjög gott.
Takk fyrir mig!

We enjoyed two times dinner in Cafe Dunhagi: what an experience! The chef and owner goes all the way in transforming local dishes from the sea or the land into superb mouthwatering specialties. The mussels (best sauce ever), the trout (didnt know they grow that big and juicy here- wow!) and the lamb (most succulent piece ever) where simply the best.
Big thnx to the Dunhagi crew!

OH MY GOD! Maybe the best restaurant experience i've had. If some dare questioning icelandic cuisine, send them here! The atmosphere is nice and cosy. The staff is as sweet and funny as one could possibly imagine. And the food was marvelous, splendid, beautiful. We had the daily fish soup, the lamb and local trout, as well as some desserts (rhubarb pie and chocolate cake) and they were all STUNNING. Simply amazing.

A pearl in the fjord,
a lovely restaurant in an unexpected location, surrounded by sea and rocks. Wonderful, attentive and extremely friendly staff with patience and humor (a rare combination in Iceland). The menu leaves nothing to be desired (soup with mussels - delicious, trout and wolffish - absolutely presentable, French chocolate cake and skyr formage - no evening can start that nicer), French chansons are humming softly in the background. Recommended !

Very nice Cafe. It has a personal touch and taste of the owner. Unfortunately, it closes during the fall and winter. Highly recommended.

I was finally able to have a real meal in Iceland that was not pizza/burgers. It was delicious!!! The food is all local and the ambiance of the restaurant is great. The total was around 10000 for two mains and a dessert. I think that is very reasonable considering the usual alternative.

This is the cutest little place with an amazing atmosphere and absolutely wonderful food! The chef creates food with love and magic! I'm not a fish-person, but the way she can cook cod n trout is truly magical! And the lamb rib eye! OH LORD! I'm definitely going back when I come to Tálknafjörður again! If you are ever near there, do yourself the favor and GO EAT THERE!

We ate here and I cannot recommend it enough. The food was so amazing. The lamb just melted in my mouth like rustic butter. The ambiance made you feel at home. And service was so outstanding. I keep talking about this place even days after we have left and wish I could go back before I leave. I highly recommend Cafe Dunhagi if you are in the area. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you are hesitating going here to eat, DON’T. On our travel we have been to a few different places and this is the experience we had been looking for. Homemade authentic and delicious. The owner talked about her family history.. her family has occupied the farm for 250 years! She hand picks all her berries and other produce that is around the area. Good vegan options if you are into that. All around 10/10. Loved the vibe.
