Drangey Tours

We emailed the morning before we wanted to go and got the last two seats on the tour, highly recommend to email before and get on the list.

The hike at the beginning is moderate to advance at the beginning, there were a few people in our group that didn't even try, they just stayed at the boat.

On the island it was great, heard fun stories, had coffee, walked to different views, saw lots and lots of puffins. We did get to see a whale surface out in the water, was a fun excursion!

The best tour in Iceland! With a fast boat you go in 30 minutes to Drangey. On the island you take stairs and ladders to the top at 180 meters. Amazing views and lots of puffins. Everything is guided by the very friendly guide/owner of the company! GO AND DO THIS TOUR :-)

Quite a walk up steel stairs and terrain so not for young kids or people who have disabilities.

An incredible experience! Never seen so many birds and puffins! There is a steep climb to arrive on the island but it is very worthwhile!

Early August we had a very good number of birds (including numerous puffins).

Hike on the island involve a ladder and several ropes. 3h30 to 4h tour overall (boat+hike). Nice guides. Bring your picnic.

Only thing is if you are afraid of heights, the walking to the top is a bit scary, as you have to walk close to the edge (it is safe), so also something to consider if you have small children

Yes it’s a good walk up to the the top but it’s a tour with this father and son you must do when you are here in the north of Iceland. What an amazing place and experience this is. 10+

For my 40th birthday, my wish was to hang out with puffins with a little adventure mixed in and, guys, let me tell you…THIS EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. I can confidently assume that this is the best puffin tour in Iceland. Granted I haven’t done any others, but I just can’t even imagine how it could get much better! The father/son tour handlers/guides do it perfectly. My husband and I were just two of 11 people total (including our guide) where we took their boat to the uninhabited little cliff island of Drangey. It’s incredible sight as you’re pulling up from the water, and you’re already seeing puffins flying and floating around you. As soon as you step onto the little dock, the adventure begins. You climb up the very steep hill (it’s definitely a workout!), trek on narrow paths alongside the cliff (anyone afraid of heights would not like that part but I thought it made it more incredible). And then you climb up a straight up metal ladder. And puffins are everywhere! It’s the most surreal experience. Once you’re up on top, the views are amazing! Our guide (the son of the father/son duo) was so nice and funny and told great stories and provided tons of information about the land, the puffins, Icelandic folktales. We got to explore pretty much the entire top of the island cliff and it was just the 11 of us the whole time we were there! They only take one group a day and no other tours go there. It’s a practically private experience and feels really special. And the puffins are just so cute and mesmerizing. I couldn’t stop smiling. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Well worth the money! For what it was, the price was really good. I truly hope to experience this again one day! Thank you, Drangey Tours for making my birthday wish come true!

We tried to book just the sailing trip but ended up by mistake on the hiking version and we were not prepared to hike. Was scary for some of us.
But the staff was very helpful and motivating so was ok.
If you like nature and birds and cliffs is great.
If afraid of heights and not in good shape, I would suggest the sailing version.
But do go, these guys are really nice and love their land, so can transmit theor passion for these places.

This is one of the most beautiful experience I've ever done in my life. They really make you feel like you're a member of the family, insanely kind people. I finally saw Razorbills and Puffins. I strongly suggest to go for the 4 hours tour with the hiking, the island is majestic.

Did the Drangey island tour today where we hiked on the island to see the puffins and absolutely loved it! The island is beautiful and the puffins are so funny. It's a family run business and they were really friendly and informative. Would definitely recommend! We even saw a whale on the boat trip back!

If you want to see puffins this is the best and only tour to Drangey island. The tour guide (owner) is super nice. I was a little scared of the height but he was very patient and helped me through the steep trail to get to the top. The trail was built by him and his father. Once you get on top the view is amazing.

This was one of the best trips we made in Iceland. The island was jaw droppingly beautiful and getting to the top was quite the climb. The island was absolutely amazing and this is a must visit as far as we are concerned.

Nice trip, cool guide. We saw a lot of puffins. Very expensive but definitely worth the money. If you are afraid of heights you shouldnt do this trip or better stay in the boat.

Nice guides, beautiful scenery and astonishing wildlife.
Note that weather can differ quite a bit, I went out on a sunny day wich is the best. The wildlife may also depend on weather and time of year.

Unfortunately our tour was canceled due to wind conditions but the situation was handled with professionalism and as much notice as possible. We look forward to trying to visit Drangey on a future trip

Bitte unbedingt pünktlich sein. Ein sehr guter Guide und eine wunderschöne Insel. Der Aufstieg ist etwas für Tritt- und Schwindelsichere, aber beim Guide fühlt man sich sicher. Nur zu empfehlen.
