Katale Khor (Persian: کتله‌خور‎,Azerbaijani: کتله خور) is a cave located in Zanjan Province, Iran. It is situated 120 km south of Zanjan city and is about 410 km from Tehran. The name, Katale Khor, means "mount of the sun".Geological studies in 1984 showed that the cave formation dates back to the Jurassic period. It is believed that the cave is connected to Ali Sadr Cave in Hamadan province. The road from Zanjanto Katale Khor passes Soltaniyeh, an ancient Ilkhanid city.

We've been there during Norouz holidays and it was super crowded. Try low seasons.

Excellent cave to visit. of course it is not a place for pro cavers, but with many beautiful and breathtaking natural sculptures it really flashes up your imagination. A must see if you live in Iran or if you happen to travel to Iran.

It worth to spend one day to go there, one of the most beautiful caves I ever seen. The road is not very good but is beautiful with nice farmland view.
There is guide whose show you the cave. You must walk a lot in side the cave but it very beautiful. The entrance fee was 150000 Rial. there was restaurants and cafe shop out side the cave. If you want to expend the night in that area you can back to the city near the cave to rent a suite with a good price.

A Splendid Mysterious Cave The entrance to which resembles a crevice at the beginning and culminates in a triangular arch. After the labyrinth, the gallery, channels and passages have taken shape gradually becoming larger or smaller. Chains of galleries are separated from each other and some of them are open ended while others have narrow strip linking to other passages or labyrinths. The visibility inside this labyrinth extends to 700 meters and there are the undiscovered parts and routes in this cove yet which length is smilingly unknown. It is believed that the cave joins to Ali Sadr Cave in Hamadan province.

The unique features of this cave include the presence of massive calcareous columns that are the result of the combination of stalactites and calcareous stalagmites that have made this cave its own, meaning that these huge columns play a role of preserving It prevents the cave from falling.
