Sonwara

Sonwara is station of natural beauty in-between jungle and hill. I got down from the train at this station and to my surprise, there is no connectivity to reach main road. You have to trek uphill for 15-20 min on the rocks and in between bushes to reach main road. So beware, and avoid getting down at this station. Better go for kalka or Dharampur which has good connectivity to road and buses.

Sonwara Railway Station is situated amidst the beautiful natural surroundings of jungles and hills, offering a picturesque view for travellers. Traveling on the Kalka-Shimla toy train, which operates in all seasons, offers an opportunity to witness the ever-changing natural beauty of the region. Although express and deluxe trains rarely halt at this station, it occasionally serves as a crossing point. During such times, a small stall is available, offering tea and packaged items to travellers. In summary, while Sonwara Railway Station boasts natural beauty and scenic views, its lack of direct connectivity to the main road makes it less desirable for travellers. Opting for other stations with better road connectivity, such as Kalka or Dharampur, would be more convenient. Nonetheless, the natural beauty experienced during the train journey and the picturesque surroundings make Sonwara Railway Station a worthwhile stop for photography enthusiasts and those seeking a unique heritage train experience.

Small station on the narrow gauge line between Shimla and Kalka. Trains stop here for few minutes, so passengers can have some refreshments etc. Station view is also good, surrounded by mountains.

As the Kalka - Shimla heritage trains chug towards Shimla, this is another quaint railway station along the route. The express & deluxe trains do not stop here, unless there is a crossing.
In that event, there is a small stall selling tea and packaged items.
There are also picturesque photo opportunities.
