I was afraid from the reviews I saw but I had completely different experience. The staff there were very cooperative and helpful.

Visited for widow pension claim.
Staff right from watchman to clerical very much supportive.
**carry required documents-**
1 - Death certificate original and Xerox
2 - Aadhar card and PAN card original and Xerox of nominee
3 - passbook (of nominee in the same branch of the bank as of the deceased) and Xerox of it's front page
4- PPO number of the deceased
5 - Form for the claim available at the office has to be signed by the nominee.

When I visited in the morning 9am there were around 25 visitors and my form was submitted within 15 minutes. Had very good experience with the government office. On my earlier visit in October after lock down there were around 200 visitors and a long queue.

My Requirement was to obtain an attested/stamped certificate of my PF balance.
Initially I visited the PF office at the end of september but was told that most of the employees are not present due to the pandemic so they cannot provide the certificate & I was asked to raise a grievance on their portal on which I will definitely get a reply.
After raising grievance for first time the case was disposed by the officer in-charge with solution that we can use the member passbook downloaded from EPFO portal but I wanted an attested & stamped copy. only.
So I raised another grievance and to my surprise, was contacted by a PF officials who asked me to come down to the PF office & provided the certificate under 2 hours using their own format. The PF official was polite & very helpful. He resolved our queries also patiently.

Date of raising grievance - 22 Oct'20 (Thursday)
Date of Receiving the certificate - 26th Oct'20 (Monday)

Excellent job done by this EPFO staff. Online claim raised is settled within 5-7 days only.

No need to go to office at all. I have raised claim from Bangalore and it is settled faster than expected.

i have applied for passbook transfer on 25-02-2020 and submitted all the documents @epfo office thane epfo team said my transfer is in the same office so it will take 2-3 weeks only for the transfer and till today it is not updated 04-07-2020. I can understand it may be delayed because of lock-down but now looking at the date it is not acceptable. since march business has been stopped and now 50% salary is getting deducted. I have mailed all the details on ro.thanenorth@epfindia.gov.in still no actions taken for the complaint and also no one is replying.
if anyone have the email id or contact number of @Epfo commissioner thane please share.

I am really amazed by the service given By their security office and Security guy
I never seen such punctuality and humanity by any Government official or office.

I really hate visiting govt offices, but not this.
All the members, guards, sweepers and officers are very very helpful.
They guide very properly regarding any issue..
