A great place to visit. The view of Dindigul town/settlements from the top is mesmerizing. The steps cut out on the rocks are a great view. There are ruins of old buildings inside the fort. And there are a lot of sculptures on top of the rock fort, which are sadly not maintained or cared properly. There is no one in or around the fort to care it. People are scribbling all around the area and ruining them (including the stone sculptures)
It is saddening to see an archeological site be ruined in that way. There should be more of an organized and managed way to visit the fort.
The place is also awesome for photography enthusiasts. There are numerous options for photography. Visiting the place in the afternoon would be great, as you can catch the sunset.

The fort is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and maintains it as a protected monument. An entry fee of ₹25 is charged for Indian citizens and ₹300 for foreigners. The fort receives few visitors in college and school students and the occasional foreign tourists. Visitors are allowed to walk around the tunnels and trenches that reveals the safety features of the structure. The temple has some sculptures and carvings, with untarnished rock cuts.
The history of Dindigul is centered on the fort over the small rock hill and fort. Dindigul region was the border of the three prominent kingdoms of South India, the Cheras, Cholas and Pandyas. During the first century A.D., the Chola king Karikal Cholan captured the Pandya kingdom and Dindigul came under the Chola rule. During the sixth century, the Pallavas took over most provinces of Southern India and Dindigul was under the rule of Pallavas until Cholas regained the state in the 9th century and the Pandyas regained control by the 13th century.

We really had a wonderful visit here in the rock fort. However, archeological department should sill preserve lot of ancient things here. Especially the temple at top of the fort. Please do.

Beautiful place to spend an evening or whole day. There's a lot of history behind this place. Was only able to spend a brief amount of time here. Well maintained. Keep a bottle of water with you. The walk up to the top is not tiresome. Once you're on top there's no place to get clear drinking water. And leave no trash there.

Rock fort is such a nice place for kids and everyone. It's open from 10am to 5pm(pandemic time). Free for kids for entry. It will take minimum 4 to 5 hrs to cover the entire area. Steps are very tiny and will be slippery during rainy season.

A must visit place if you are in or nearby Dindugal. The fort itself is such a beauty. The architecture and the history(refer Wikipedia) on how the fort was build is mind blowing. I was awestruck when I found how genius the system was setup for the cavalry in the entrance. The view is pretty awesome as well. Sunset - time of the day is the right time for photography. There is a small water body which is a nice place to chill. The walk to the hilltop is definitely worthy.

Dindigul Rock Fort is very nice, having ponds to save water and have cool temperature. It is clean and green, but still few covers, water bottles can be cleaned.

Excellent historical place and must visit by historical lovers. Understand the history before visiting. Not having any details in the fort. It was built by Rani mangamma and occupied by Thippu and demolished the temple and thrown the moolavar to the pond nearby.

The fort is a splendid location situated close to the city, it is a very ancient fort and the on your way up you get to see many ancient structures.
