A must visit for musium lovers. Artifacts from all over India are kept. Every region of India is covered.
All the major tribal cultures and their rituals, living style, house patterns are seen here. Tribal equipment for Music, costumes and masks during dance, tools for farming... U name it and they have exhibited it.
Its a huge musium... Takes almost 3hrs to cover it completely.

Very good museum, very spacious, covering a wide range of tribal lifestyle, there way of living their huts utensils tools etc. Models displayed are of excellent quality.
But felt one has to go long distance inside from the main gate. So if one is very much inclined then only will visit.
Felt not conveniently connected with public transport.

Visited in Nov-2023. This is the main indoor exhibition in Manav Sangrahalay. It houses artefacts from Tribes, aboriginals. The whole exhibition is divided into almost 10-12 sections. You have to take few stairs occasionally.
The exhibits are beautiful and astonishing sometimes. Also please be respectful for the exhibits as they are valued and sacred items.
There is a small store just outside main door, so that you can buy few of the things.
Overall a must visit place when you are in Bhopal.

Veethi Sankul is unique museum which depicts growth of Man from stone age. It has a large collection of Utensils, clothes, weapon, huts, instruments and other items in a chronological manner. It is located near CM house and 2.4 Km from Boat club. A beautiful and informative museum to visit.

A great place to see 'veethi sankul museum' in Manav Sangrahlaya.

Human civilization starting from the stone age is well depicted at this place.
So many things, a lot of things I would say, are kept from ancient time and are maintained at par level.
What a maintenance, hats off to all the people who work there!
You will relish each and every thing you see there. It's too good, trust me.
Must visit this place in Bhopal.
It is so big that it may take your whole day to spent there and understand the human history. But it is totally a worth place to spend your time.

To know how we evolved, how we used to love and how we survived?
Each and everything that one wants to know, it is there!

This is constructed in about 12,000 sqm. area with spacious exhibition halls, a reference library{remains closed most of the time} indoor & outdoor auditoriums and other miscellaneous facilities, and dedicated to the nation in March, 2005. The structure is unique in its architecture, constructed on a rocky terrain incorporating difficult levels of the slopy land. The various exhibition halls and auditoriums have been constructed on approximately 16 levels. The structure is covered with Dholpur sand-stone cladding from all sides, and the flooring is made with Kota and Red sand stones. Approximately 7000 sq.mt. floor area is utilized for exhibitions, in 10 galleries. An important aspect of these galleries are the active involvement of different community groups in developing the exhibits, and their presentations in appropriate environment. Another special feature is the life size displays and visitor friendly approaches for visitors' convenience.

Gallery 1:
Human Evolution and Variation: It presents the landmarks of the process of human evolution in different stages through models, photographs, charts, sketches, etc. Emphasis has been put on the Narmada-man discovered at Hathnora in Madhya Pradesh, which indicates India as one of the early locations of human bio-cultural evolution.

Gallery 2:
Human Odyssey – Depicts material cultural objects on settlement patterns, subsistence and aesthetic activities of hunter-gatherers, shifting cultivators, pastoralists, peasants and ethno-medical practitioners in India;

Gallery 3:
Longo Jatra – A festival of the Koitor life style and festivities of Gond tribes of Central India.

Gallery 4:
Mandwa Gohri – envisages holistic presentation on the Bhill tribes of Western India.

Gallery 5:

This is one of the few museums where a significant number of specimens from reserve collections are on display for informed visitors.

Gallery 11 & 12: on Naga and North East states

If you have interest in Humanity's development and famous tribes of India like Lepchas; Nagas; Bhils; Gonds etc. then this place is a MUST MUST watch. However; bring your refreshments and energy drinks along as visiting each and every hutment climbing the steep slopy hillocks will drain you out. Trekking shoes ~ bring em on!!!

Cameras and photography allowed but without flash.

Ticket Rs 50 per adult. No ticket for kids.

Ample parking space.
