Bhojtal: Formerly known as Upper Lake, this large lake is a major source of drinking water for Bhopal residents. It was built by the Hindu raja Bhoj in the 11th century. The lake is 1,000 years old and is the oldest man-made lake in India.

Upper Bhopal Lake (Bada Talab): Connected to the Lower Bhopal Lake by an aqueduct.

Lower Bhopal Lake (Chhota Talab): Has a surface area of 1.29 square kilometers and an average depth of 6.2 meters.

Upper lake is the best place in Bhopal. Amazing view of lake specially at morning and evening. The area is very neat and clean. Good for a walk alongside the huge lake. Here you can boating and many fun things. Best place to hang out with your friends and family. The evening would be the best time to come because it is really hot in the afternoon especially during summer hours. Parking facility is good. Beautiful scenery, there are various restaurants located beside the lake which provides good food with a beautiful view of the lake.
One can avail boating experience with various kinds of boats available here like a motor boat, peddle boat and speed boat etc. really a good place for speed boat and a cruise ride in the evening ticket for speed boat is 250rs for up to three people and Rs 120rs per person for cruise ride great thrill you can also enjoy a parragliding for just Rs 500 per Person. Everyone should visit here once. Hotels are also here if wanna stay but the rooms will be expensive because of scenic view. But you check prices online and book.

Good place for tourist visit. You can stay here late light....but some bikers are very dangerous to us. Govt should take action.

One of the best places of Bhopal. The upper lake is so peaceful in the evening. The statue of Raja bhoj standing is also really nice. It shows how he ruled and his story of bravery. The history of Bhopal is vast. The lake during the day time blows very cool breeze making the road and the area vicinity to the lake very cool and relaxing. If one sits on the Gauhar Mahal stairs leading to the road beside the lake is one of the eye catching view.

Best Place for fun hangout with family and friends, would recommend to take a paddle boat for rent, around 300 Rs for 30 mins and take it in the lake to enjoy the calmness.

It has a few snack vendors nearby and it is easy to drive there.

Now the colony road is closed as per bungalow request. But still the view is beyond anything. Early morning birds came for a walk and jogged across the view.

The upper Lake is the part of the big lake in Bhopal. The lower Lake is joined to the upper Lake and a small land mass divides them, hence the name.

The upper Lake is a nice point and should be in your must visit lists of Bhopal. The drive itself is very nice with the lake on one side and a lush green on the other. There are several spots near the lake which can be used if you want to avoid heavy crowded places. The city municipal corporation has also built a beautiful sign that read ' the city of lakes' . At night, the sign lights up and it is very beautiful.

If you want you can go the lake directly. There are ducks and swans which you can feed. there are also boat rides and cruise drives which tourists can enjoy.

If not, you visit one of the restaurants on the hill side. You can devour quality food with an exceptional view. In fact one of the scenes of the movie 'arakshan' starring Deepika Padukone and saif Ali khan was shot here, I don't remember which restaurant is it, if anybody knows please reply it in the replies to the comment section.

The limelight of Bhopal. One massive lake that is more than 30 sq km in area. Very beautiful sight, sunsets are unimaginable. A boat club is present where tourists can go boating. Beautiful lake. In my 5 days stay in Bhopal, I always go jogging in the lake side, the people also very friendly. Recommended to get here!
