Nice and picturesque location. Great to visit to get a view of the sun rays touching the water. It’s an artificial lake with plenty of paid parking space just in from of the lake. Clean and family-friendly with the availability of snacks.

If you’re riding a bike, you’d reach it without any trouble. However, for 4-wheelers, you can expect a traffic-jam of upto 30 min. It’s due a narrow single lane passway via a bridge.

We'd been there on our way to Shillong! We managed to reach the lake right at the time of sunset and that's a cherry on the cake!

Serenity, calmness and satisfaction is what you'll feel at this place. To top it all, there were some decorations happening on the day we visited, probably for a destination wedding! The mood and vibe of the place is extremely soulful and happy!

One of the best lakes I have ever seen. The view is just breathtaking. You can go boating here. It has a children's play zone. People can be seen doing picnic here.

Large, vast and serene. You can visit en route Shillong or on way back. You can enjoy from the viewpoint or go down to the lake if you have time. Boating available also.

Umiam Lake is a beautiful and serene lake located on the outskirts of Shillong. It is an artificial lake surrounded by green hills about 15 km from Shillong and is a popular tourist destination for its scenic beauty and water sports activities. There are several viewpoints around the lake that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and lake. One can simply sit for hours and enjoy the surroundings. One can take pictures in ethnic dress. There are also some water sports activities. But they are not properly organized. We had to wait for more than an hour for our turn. Additionally, there are several restaurants and cafes near the lake where visitors can enjoy local food and snacks. Overall, Umiam Lake is a must-visit destination for tourists visiting Shillong, who want to enjoy the beauty of nature and indulge in some fun water activities.

Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani Lake, is a beautiful man-made reservoir located 15 km north of Shillong in Meghalaya. It was created by damming the Umiam River in the 1960s for hydroelectric power generation. The lake offers a stunning view of the surrounding hills and forests, and is a popular tourist attraction for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and picnic goers.

I visited Umiam Lake with my sister in march and we had a wonderful time there. We enjoyed boating, kayaking, and water skiing on the lake, and also explored the nearby Lumpongden Island by trekking and camping. The lake was very clean and serene, and the weather was pleasant. We also saw some local fishermen and villagers who were very friendly and helpful.

The lake has a park adjacent to it, where we relaxed and had some snacks. There were also some shops and stalls selling local handicrafts, souvenirs, and food items. The lake is easily accessible by road from Shillong, and there are also some resorts and guest houses nearby for accommodation.

Umiam Lake is a must-visit place for anyone who loves nature and adventure. It is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, and a great place to spend some quality time with family and friends. I would highly recommend Umiam Lake to anyone who is planning to visit Meghalaya.

Mesmerizing place ! I went in September.. weather was so beautiful, the lake , park, the foot bridge, everything was 10 on 10.. There's also a service of boat riding service, for 3 person it was maybe 500 and for 10 person it was like 1.2K ... Must visit ❤

This is locally known as Dam sait. It was built by the Assam State Electricity Board in the early 1960s. The dam's original purpose was to store water for hydroelectric power generation.

Ukiam is a wonderful location in the northeastern part of India. This small quaint village is located on the Meghalaya – Assam Border in Kamrup.

Excellent place to relax. There is a small forested area where one can take a long walk in the side of the lake. The boating usually has a long queue so it is recommended to be prepared accordingly. Make sure not to litter as great care has gone into keeping the place clean.
