Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiv. It is located at the chaura rasta near tripolia gate in walled city which is easy accessible from any bus stand, railway station.
It is said to be more the 350 years old. You don't need any booking or tickets to visit, just walk in and embrace the presence of divine blessings. You'll get to see ancient shivaling, stone carved deity of Goddess Durga worshipped as Mata Bhuwaneshwari, Tall deity of Lord Ganesh, kaal bhairav, Chauth mata and vinayak ji, Guru vedvyas and Nandi made of brass.

Tarkeshwar mahadeva Temple is popular as Tarkeshwar Ji Mandir in Pink City, Jaipur. This well-known pilgrimage is dedicated to Shankar bhagwan” lord Shiva” and was established in 1784 A.D. The Shivlinga inside the santorum- sanctum is made up of Blakc Stone (marble). This Mahadeva Hindu Temple is a very ancient and the oldest temple in Jaipur City. The festivals- Mahashiva Ratri, Deepavalia, Nrisingh Leela and ,Annakuta are celebrated with a fervor and devotion inside this temple every year .Every Monday is the day of special worship of Mahadeva.

This temple of Shiva is quite ancient. This temple was built at the time of the establishment of Jaipur in 1784 AD. According to the information, at that time near Rajprasad i.e. City Palace, there used to be a village of Dhundharminaz and there were a lot of palm trees here. Hence the name of the temple here became Tadkeshwar after the name of the palm trees.
It is said that a cow used to come here regularly and stand at a particular place. There milk used to come out of his udders automatically. When excavated at that place, Shivling was found. This is the place where the cow used to anoint with milk.

Vishal Nandi is special

The main Shivling is made of black stone. Its diameter is 9 inches. Jagmohan is located near the main temple. There are four huge bells in this huge hall, each weighing 125 kg. The walls are splendidly painted, though due to lack of care it is fading. There is also a temple of Shani Dev here. The huge Nandi bull of brass is also the center of attraction in front of this Jagmohan.

The Shiva temple offers a profoundly tranquil atmosphere, and attending the noon aarti is a definite highlight.

However, that there can be challenges with parking, especially if you arrive with a four-wheeler.
