Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad

My brother is going to start his PhD studies here so I went with him and got a glimpse of the campus area, infrastructure wise it has beautifully maintained it's campus equipped with every facilities a modern campus requires, I saw 🚲 everywhere to travel from one lecture hall or library to hostel etc or going outside.

Main canteen was a real mess though food prices were economic but it lacks real management of dispensing food, we were standing for half an hour without any token in hand or a serial number that they can write on bill paper and announce it when it is prepared but mismanagement starts here they give the food who is standing in front of them and a call they make it is not audible at all, they can use in home Mike or table number or any system that makes the process easy and smooth, it is not a big matter but sincere attention is required to rectify it so that, If a visitor vists this place and they will go to canteen, so making this place hassel free will leave a good impression or a reviewer like me will express what I have witnessed.

I have been here from last 3 weeks for my Summer camp.. It's very nice Institute.. Green environment... And I am enjoying here.. Thank U MTTS

The Indian Mines Act VII of 1901, is that all Indian mines must be kept under the supervision of mining experts, the Congress is of opinion that a Government College of Mining Engineering be established in some suitable place in India on the models of the Royal School of Mines in England, Mining Colleges of Japan and at other places in the continent”. The McPherson Committee formed by Govt. of India, recommended the establishment of an institution for imparting education in the fields of Mining and Geology, whose report, submitted in 1920, formed the main basis for establishment of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.

The Indian School of Mines was formally opened on 9th December 1926, by Lord Irwin, the then Viceroy of India to address the need for trained manpower related to mining activities in the country with disciplines of Mining and Applied Geology. In 1967 it was granted the status of a deemed to be university under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956. Since its establishment, IIT(ISM) has undergone considerable expansion of its activities, and presently it can be considered as a total technology education institute.

One of the best educational institutions having a beautiful campus. No doubt this is the pride of Dhanbad.

Visiting IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is a great experience.The campus is so big, it's a small self sufficient town itself. Very clean and green. Security is very tight but friendly. One of the oldest premier Engineering University of India. Feel proud that my son got a chance to study here.

What We can say. Indian School Of Mines is one of the prestigious college of India, and also it now an "IIT".

The Indian School of Mining is now the Indian Institute of Technology. This is only the institute where you can study about mines and Mining because Dhanbad is the Coal Capital of India and here you can find a lot of Coal Mines. Apart from Coal there are so Many minerals in this area. Students are coming from all over India and Abroad also for studying here.
