Khadir Bet is a living testament to the resilience of history. Home to the remnants of the Indus Valley Civilization, wandering through this special beyt is like stepping back in time. The well-preserved artifacts and structures whisper stories of an ancient civilization that once thrived in this arid landscape.

This is a small isolated island within the salt plains of 'Rann of Kachchh'.

Dholavira is yet another Harappan site located in the Great Rann of Kachchh on a Khadir Bet. At present the Rann is a dry area but during good monsoon it gets flooded. Dholavira is supposed to have witnessed the earliest habitation of protohistoric period in Gujarat. Excavation has revealed a long cultural sequence which commences from the beginning of the third millennium BC, when perhaps a group of people from Makran coast arrived on the island through Kori creek. This assumption is based on the ceramic feature resembling those from the Amerian culture (datable to 3000 BC). Similar pottery has also been reported from other Harappan sites of Kachchh. The base of Rann of Kachchh might have been under 10 m deep water for 3000 years19 and the Khadir Bet could have served as an island in the shallow sea. It is not clear why people settled on an island rather than on the mainland, where agriculture and other commodities, including marine resources could be better exploited. The inference is that Dholavira was an active port and the Harappans must have found that this port was a safe harbour for anchoring boats. The long habitational history of the area highlights the importance of the location and of maritime activities. The location of the site seems to be favourable even for riverine navigation, in case one is not inclined to consider this a port site.

Beautiful island surrounded by white rann, very limited places for over night stay as well as eatery, camping is recommended with group, visit temple near bsf last camp and last point of island, night view is amazing specially on fully moon,

Calm and quite place to relax at sunrise and sunset. Excellent spot for photography and shooting. Undiscovered and amazing. Do visit once to see miracle on the earth.

Peaceful, untouched White Rann. It's not open for all and approach to the Rann is through a private field. Whereas on the other corner there is Dholavira tent city, a public point for enjoying the White Rann.
This place is far more beautiful than Dhordo White Rann. Also the rush is lesser here.

Very nice place to be. Do not stay at Dholavira tourism resort. Very costly and they say they are Govt. organisation but actually private. Stay in Flamingo instead for 1500 and visit Harappan site yourself. Local guides available on site.

Wonderful place.it is a tourist destination in Gujarat. The famous UNESCO World Heritage site Dholavira is also situated in khadir bet.You can see the vast White Desert.The site is just wonderful and must visit.Experience the hostility of Gujarat by visiting khadir bet and Dholavira.Must visit once and get experience.in winter if you are lucky you can get to see migration birds like flamingo,pelican,spoon bills,ducks etc.

This is the place where i would love to ride most possible way. Every winter. Yes, important note is if u want to visit any part of Kutch Gujarat then it should be in winters only. Well, my experience is limitless n speechless n expression u can see in my face. I can explain in one line this beautiful place....is ... If u can't go ladakh, forget... Go to Kutch, especially, Lakhpat, Dhordo, Dholavira, khadir and Nadabet....

Fantastic place for birdwatchers. There is a fossil park and the largest excavation site of Harappan civilization.

Indus valley civilization's hot spot...... Must go with family..... For stay prefer only flamingo Resort...... Others are costly and wastage of money........
