The history of Jamia Hamdard begins with the establishment of a small Unani clinic in the year 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, one of the well-known practitioners of Unani System of Medicine of his time. Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed had a vision of making the practice of Unani Medicine into a scientific discipline so that Unani medicines could be dispensed in a more efficacious manner to patients. He gave the name “Hamdard” to his venture which means “sympathy for all and sharing of pain”. His illustrious son, Hakeem Abdul Hameed, carried forward the philosophy and objectives of Hamdard in independent India. Even at the time of partition of India in 1947, Hakeem Abdul Hameed was dreaming of setting up a complex of educational institutions which would concentrate on highlighting the contribution of Islam and Islamic culture to Indian civilization and development of Unani medicines for curing diseases.

I have been here once and the management is very good. Also very reputed in all the fields taught here…

Jamia Hamdard is one of the best places to form strong relationships that will last far beyond just 2 years. Not only will you gain friendships among peers, but also have the chance to get close with your professors, and even faculty and staff if willing. I feel that the most important aspect in living the college life to its fullest is choosing good people to surround yourself with, for these relationships are what help make college one of the best experiences of your life. College gives you a place to meet the best people that may be like you, but may not be like you at all. Personally, I think these people will make a big impact on my life, and that I will greatly appreciate the friendships made throughout our college years.

Beautiful university in the heart of capital city. Very neat and clean University surrounded by trees. University has world class professors, lab, sports facilities and students from all over world come here for study. University offers most of courses in departments like pharmacy, medicine, IT, biotechnology, unani, management and very few courses in social sciences. Hostels are clean and well maintained. There's no involvement of students in election campaign and politics and it has both pros and cons. Pros is University is free from dirty politics and cons are management do what they feel like doing and they are not always correct. They have given one of the biggest play ground of University to third party for playing cricket. That's University property and students should use that play ground not turf. This is not acceptable means of raising funds. If students Union would have present in University such things won't happen for sure. Also canteen prices are little pricey if compared with other universities of Delhi. Overall it's a great University and one has to study to experience it as it's can not be explained in words.

So green campus, and safe also for students, but I don't like the guards some rules are waste

This is the 1st rank university according to NIRF in pharmacy and all technical courses are also available here. This is really a best place for study. You can learn so many things from this campus as its free of any kind of politics and election. Really a best place to live a student life there.

Some they say that they don’t want the kids in their lives because of their own beliefs but I think it’s true and I don’t know if they would be willing or able or willing or not to

Jamia Hamdard is an institute of higher education deemed to be university located in New Delhi, India. It is a government-funded university. Established in 1989, it was formally inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India Shri Rajiv Gandhi on August 1, 1989.

I love jamia hamdard and my nursing faculty. No words to explain about the happiness which i got in this university after 4 years of completion here i feel familiar....a we feeling comes from the air of jamia hamdard.....but please change the attitude of staff members they don't treat student in a well manner and never listen to our problems they just say go to another department and ask there about your problems.please maintain the dignity of students who pay here for study not for unwanted lactures.

It has been awarded an 'A' grade (Deemed to be University) status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India. It is a government-funded university. In the 2019 NIRF (National Institute Ranking Framework) ranking the School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research of Jamia Hamdard secured the first rank among all the pharmacy institutions of India.

Very good campus, the greenery and department blocks were amazing. Ther was sports ground and beautiful auditorium. Full marks to this university.

Jamia Hamdard University is a Muslim Minority University founded by Hakeem Abdul Hameed Sb. Today it's one of the top ranked universities in India with many streams from Pharmacy, Medicine, Engineering, Law, Management, Nursing, etc.
The Campus is lush green and safe.
The Research environment is supportive and so are cultural activities.
Great places especially for Muslim Women Students to study and grow.
