Lodhi Art District Reviews

I recently explored a unique colony in the heart of Delhi, known for its wide roads and exquisite street art. The walls of the buildings here are adorned with magnificent murals, each telling a story of its own. It's fascinating how these artworks are not just visually stunning but also carry historical significance, with their stories inscribed alongside them.

Roaming through the streets of this colony is like walking through an open-air gallery, where every turn presents a new piece of art to admire. The experience is heightened by the contrast of this artistic enclave against the backdrop of posh, modern Delhi.

One of the best ways to experience this area is by bicycle, which can be easily rented from one of the bicycle points within the colony. Cycling around, I was able to take in the beauty at my own pace, stopping to read the stories behind each mural and appreciating the creativity and history embedded in the walls.

This unique aspect of Delhi offers a refreshing break from the usual hustle and bustle of the city. It's a hidden gem that showcases the city's rich cultural tapestry and artistic talent. For anyone looking to see a different side of Delhi, rich in art and history, this is a must-visit spot.

The uniqueness of this place is "Impeccable"

It's basically a colony in the middle of posh delhi with wide roads, where the walls of buildings are painted with these beautiful arts. Each art has it's own history and that too is written on each wall. Roaming in the streets of this colony with such beautiful walls is an experience itself.

Pro tip:- You can take bicycles from one of the bicycle point situated in the colony and then roam around the beautiful place.

Lodhi Art District has close to 50 murals. It's great to cover them while walking. You can easily spend a few hours. There is a map legend available which is super helpful for locating all of these with additional info. Though many of these are intact, there are some which have deteriorated. I would love it if they recreated more such murals across Delhi NCR. Definitely a must for art lovers.

Terracotta by Italian artist Tellas
Tellas’ mural is called ‘Terracotta’, a rich earthenware, clay-based ceramic, which in Italian literally means ‘baked earth’. The use of this colour and material is entrenched in the history of art from the earliest civilizations, and also in India's heritage.

Definitely worth visiting if you're an art and graffiti fan. The murals are spread all over the district and not confined to a single row of houses meaning you have to explore the whole area in order to view all of them. So it is advisable to visit this place in the evening as the weather might be more favorable then.

I had a blast visiting this place with my friends. Will recommend it blindly to anyone who visits Delhi. The street arts are So beautiful and unique and all around the place its more of a hide n seek game but set in the entire streets.
Tips - Better to come in the evening times like 3.00pm onwards in summer, Carry a wide angle lens if photography is your primary goal, Hire a yulu bike from the metro as commute is a problem from one art piece to another and bike rides are fun. Have Fun 😇

If you are an art enthusiast or loves graffitis, this place is for you. Located in the Lodhi colony, it is India's first open-air art district. Beautiful and picturesque place. The murals are painted on every block and you have to walk the entire colony for seeing all of them. People who can't walk for long distances might need to take some rest in between.
It is best to visit during the evening to avoid the heat, but can be best enjoyed on mornings/afternoons in winters.
Closest metro stations are Jorbagh, Lok Kalyan Marg on yellow line and JLN stadium in Violet line.
Small food stalls are available in some places, but I didn't see any big eatery.
Perfect location for all vibrant social-media pictures and photoshoots
