House of the chief architect Ghanashyam Khanikar who built the monuments around the Joysagar locality. He was brought from Coch Behar to build monuments in the Ahom kingdom. Islamic influence can be seen in the construction of this monument. The campus is in a dilapidated state with no proper guard walls. Government need to intervene and save this monument.
Very few royal structures are named after the architect. This one is one of them. This beautiful structure located at Sivasagar was built by Ahom King Rudra Singha (CE 1696-1714) and named after the architect ‘Ghanashyam’ who built the masonry buildings, temples and other structures at Joysagar locality. The monument is made of brick on a rectangular plan resembling a gate house. External walls are richly decorated with terracotta works comprising of trellis, creepers, flowers, gods, goddesses and mythological scenes of epics.

The monument is just mesmerizing but the park it is in is not at all maintained, because of that it's not obvious that a beautiful monument is within. Tourism development is needed on this side of the sivsagar monuments and I hope it's preserved as the main monument looks tilted. I think the best thing to do is to take entry fees and maintain the surroundings properly because all the visitors I could see were school children sitting here and there.

Ghanashyam House is a magnificent structure which bagged its name from the architect ‘Ghanashyam’. The monument is a terracotta brick temple which is nestled on the bank of the Joysagar tank. The present day Joysagar College is near the monument. Ghanashyam House is also known as Nati Gosain Dol or Ghanashyam Dol. Ghanashyam House’s artwork and architecture is inspired by Islamic architecture. The door openings with arches resemble Islamic architecture. Terracotta works can be seen all over the walls of the monument. The temples of Bishnupur in West Bengal are similar to the Ghanashyam House in terms of architecture. A common boundary wall covers the monument’s three independent structures. It also has a Kitchen House or the Bhog Ghar. The monument does not have any similarity with any typical Hindu temple and also does not have any picture. The windows in this monument face towards west, north and east side walls.
