My visit to Gandhi Ashram on Sunday was an enriching experience that left a lasting impression on me. As I stepped into the serene surroundings of the ashram, I was immediately struck by the sense of peace and tranquility that enveloped the place.
The ashram, located on the banks of the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad, is a testament to Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of truth and non-violence. Walking through the various exhibits and displays, I gained insight into Gandhi's life, his principles, and his role in India's struggle for independence.

One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the quaint museum housed within the ashram, which showcases Gandhi's personal belongings, letters, and photographs. It felt like stepping back in time and getting a glimpse into the life of one of the most influential figures in modern history.

I also took a leisurely stroll along the peaceful riverfront, where Gandhi and his followers used to engage in prayer and meditation. The simplicity and serenity of the surroundings were truly refreshing, providing a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Overall, my visit to Gandhi Ashram was a memorable one, filled with reflection and introspection. It served as a reminder of the enduring relevance of Gandhi's teachings in today's world and left me inspired to strive for truth, peace, and justice in my own life.

If you're ever in Ahmedabad, I highly recommend taking the time to visit Gandhi Ashram. It's not just a historical landmark, but a place of profound spiritual significance that has the power to touch hearts and minds.

While some people may feel what to do going here, i completely recommend you to visit this place.
It is very well maintained place. This is where Mahatma Gandhi stayed for most part of his life. There is a museum, a photo gallery, entire life in photos woth timeline, etc.
There is Magan Niwas where various types of spinning yarn are kept. There is a Vinobha and Mira Kutir where these 2 people used to stay. There is a prarthana bhumi where below a tree they used to sit. There is Hriday Kunj where Gandhiji stayed.

Good thing is you can click on the wifi and get free audio guide as you visit these places. It is very useful.
You could also visit the site for virtual tour and follow that path when you go there physically.

There is ample 2 wheeler parking and 4 wheeler parking just ahead of the main gate.

Entry is free and there is no ticket. Parking is also free.

It is Indian History and one should cherish it. The most touching aspect was at the time of independence, Gandhiji was at Bengal trying to stop the riots there where all others were celebrating. This is his greatness.... go and visit this Ashram of Father of the nation.

"I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want all cultures of all the lands to be blown about by my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any. " Some insights into the life of Gandhi and his followers. The beauty and simplicity of Gandhiji's living style inspire every human being.

Sabarmati Ashram is located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, adjoining the Ashram Road, on the banks of the River Sabarmati, 4 miles from the town hall. This was one of the many residences of Mahatma Gandhi who lived at Sabarmati and Sevagram when he was not travelling across India or in prison.

I visited Sabarmati Ashram last day and I was amazed by the history and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and his followers. The ashram is located on the banks of the river Sabarmati, which adds to its serene and peaceful atmosphere. The ashram has several buildings and sites that showcase Gandhi’s life and work, such as Hriday Kunj, his residence, Magan Niwas, his nephew’s cottage, Vinoba-Mira Kutir, where Vinoba Bhave and Mira Ben stayed, Udyog Mandir, where Gandhi initiated the historic Dandi March, and Gandhi Memorial Museum, which displays his personal belongings, manuscripts, photographs, paintings and other artifacts. The museum also has a gallery called My Life is My Message, which depicts Gandhi’s journey from his childhood to his assassination through interactive exhibits and multimedia. The ashram also has a library and archives that contain a rich collection of Gandhi’s writings and documents. The ashram staff and volunteers are very helpful and friendly, and they conduct various activities and events to promote Gandhi’s values and teachings. I attended a Gandhi Katha, a storytelling session about Gandhi’s life, which was very informative and inspiring. I also enjoyed the Sabarmati Lecture series, where eminent speakers discussed various topics related to Gandhi and contemporary issues. The ashram also offers walking tours that cover different aspects of the ashram and its surroundings. I highly recommend visiting Sabarmati Ashram to anyone who wants to learn more about Gandhi and his contribution to India’s freedom struggle and the world. It is a place of pilgrimage for peace lovers and seekers of truth.

If you are a Gandhian or influenced by his ideals and beliefs, then it is a must place to visit. You'll also get to see the room that he worked out of and the ashram he set up with his wife Kasturba and also a first hand view of how he translated his belief system into living a daily life for himself and the ashram inmates
You can also spend time near Sabarmati River. Great build quality and well maintained surrounding & also you can buy some of arts, books, history novels etc.

A pleasant place. Would recommend going in the morning if you wanna enjoy the sight of the river flowing alongside it. Winters are apparently the best time to visit as the whole place is bathed in sun.
There's stuff that you can buy like a calendar or hand woven cloth.
would take around 1 hr to explore the entire thing
