Ram Janardan Temple

If you want to spend sometime being yourself amid the chaos of stressful life thn Shri Ram Janardan Mandir is the best place. Situated in the old avantika shetra surrounded by lush greenery and Vishnu Sagar Lake, the temples were built in 17th century. The premises hold several small temples too devoted to Mahadev , Ganpati ji and Hanuman ji.

You must visit here not for spiritual or worshiping only...but also if you are archeology and history lover. These temples were build in 17th century and the sculpture of lord ram is with beard and it represents the vanwas look of lord ram. Temples are in good condition and part of historical places declared by government. Sight is not that good as you will gonna find a lot of dust and garbage arround here. Vishnu Sagar Pond is another center of attraction pn it's sight. Temples architecture is of next level.

Over 300 years old temple, beautiful architecture and pond view from temple, must visit for vaishnav though less crowded but very peaceful.

There are three temples in one place and due to some renovation kids play area, garden area boating facility is also available...

No entry charges, due to old area parking may be problem...

But it feels great to be here...

Must watch really fantastic place to visit, but maintenance is poor, some visitors through garbage empty poly bags etc here, I request to all visitors please maintain cleanness the area

Idols of Rama;
Lakshmana and Sita in the Rama-temple and that of Janardana-Vishnu in the Janardana-temple belong to the seventeenth century. Both the temples present an attractive look from the point of view of their structural art. These temples were constructed by Raja Jaisingh in the Seventeenth Century. The boundary wall and the tank were added later in Maratha Period in the eighteenth Century. Beautiful examples of maratha paintings are seen on the walls of both the temples. Certain old images are seen installed in both the temples as well as near the tank opposite Janardan temple which are very important from the point of view of sculpture also. The image of Govardhandhari Krishna near the tank belongs to eleventh century. The images of Vishnu installed in between the assambly hall and the interior of Rama-temple belongs to the tenth century and the images of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesha belong to the twelfth century A.D.

By Air
The Nearest Airport Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport Indore (53 km). There are regular flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Bhopal.

By Train
Ujjain is a railway station on the Western Railway zone. It’s code is UJN. Trains are available for many big cities.

By Road
Regular bus services connect Ujjain with Indore, Bhopal, Ratlam, Gwalior, Mandu, Dhar, Kota and Omkareshwar etc.Good Motor able roads connect Ujjain with Ahmedabad (402 kms), Bhopal (183 kms), Bombay (655 kms), Delhi (774 kms), Gwalior (451 kms), Indore (53 kms) and Khajuraho (570 kms) etc.

This temple place is unique. It is not one temple but four + one. The first one is Sri Ram temple. Here Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshman are in standing pose but about three feet tall. They are in white stone with colourful garments. The garments are only up to knee level. One more peculiarity is that both Sri Rama and Lakshmana have moustache. I have not seen like this anywhere. The other temple is of Lord Vishnu. There are two more temples dedicated to Lord Siva. They are the 38th and 39th Sivalingas of the 84 in Ujjain. Just behind them is Hanuman facing South. Outside the premises as we come out, to the right is one more Siva of 84. In about 350 mtrs there is a temple dedicated to Chitragupta.

Ancient Hindu Temple of Shri Ram..very beautiful architecture. Out of 84 Mahadev, it also have 2 Shiva temples.

Here lord Ram stayed for 3 days while going to Chitrakut , so here deity of ram is walking. Very beautiful deity and good atmosphere it is must visit place in Ujjain.

Energetic land

It is an eye catching temple built by Mirza Raja Jaisingh. It is a perfect example of the elegant and fabulous architectural structural style of the Maratha period. It has many amazing, striking and excellent sculptures of 11th-12th century.

Must visit if u want to spend some quite time with yourself.. a lake with boating facility and small park makes it a good place to visit with family .
