About 500 years old, the speciality is that of lord Shiva's forehead consists of Brahma sutras written by sage ved Vyas, it's said lord can rewrite their devotees destiny.
Another speciality is all the lord shanmukha's heads are facing the same direction.

I used to visit whenever i got time during the years 2003 and 2004...i was a bachelor at that time..

I had a strange dream after visiting this Temple one day..Lord Shiva appeared in my dream with His Trishul saying " I will begin my Thiruvilayadal and see to it that You got wedded..but there will be a waiting period".

I was stunned...

Unbelievable that after few months,my Wedding was conducted in another Shiva Temple...

Since then, whenever i come here, i try to remain as calm as possible...because the dream incident had taught me that Lord Shiva here understands your state and guides you in your path....

Ancient temple, has a history.. blessed to visit.. could feel the positive vibes.. north facing Lord Ganesha could be seen at the entrance.. Lord Siva is with Akilandeshwari Amma.. especially, pradhosham is celebrated here..A big temple at the centre of the city.. no parking available for cars.. better go by bus, as there are plenty of buses available all the time..

One of the most divine temples of lord Shiva in Coimbatore. I am surprised that it's not that popular but it looks very ancient. TNHRCE should promote such places better. There is no parking nearby. So you might have to park somewhere and walk s bit. But every bit with that experience.

Oldest temple in Coimbatore

Sangameswarar or Koteeswarar temple is a small temple yet it is an ancient Sivan temple and located in Kottaimedu, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu state, India. This temple is 500 years old. One of the ancient temple in Coimbatore.

The main God here is Sangameswarar and Amman (Thayar) is Akhilandeswari.
King Karikala Chola built 36 Sivan temples in various places. This is the 31st temple built by him.

Dharshan Time: The temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

This temple is taken care by Tamilnadu government. Even marriages are happening here. Should contact the temple head officer to conduct such functions here and also 15 days before we should fill the form and submit to the gov officers. Evening time always it I'll be crowded. On special occasions they do provide lunch for all.

Overall this is one of the important temple in Coimbatore. A must visit place in Coimbatore.
