It's a really nice temple to stop by and get a blessing for your safe travels in Jaipur. Also gives a fantastic city view. Highly recommend. Priestess, who is super sweet, also speaks english if you are worried about the language barrier.

Sun Temple Jaipur: A Climb Worth the Reward

Sun Temple Jaipur, also known as Surya Mandir, wasn't just a temple visit; it was an experience. Perched atop a hill, getting there was a journey in itself. I chose the steep climb while my lungs begged for mercy, the panoramic views that unfolded with each step were a constant source of motivation.

The temple itself, built in the 18th century, is quite small compared to other Jaipur monuments. However, its charm lies in its simplicity and its quietude. Unlike the bustling forts and palaces, Surya Mandir offered a sanctuary of peace. The intricate carvings on the white marble walls bathed in sunlight were mesmerizing, and the atmosphere was serene, punctuated only by the chanting of prayers and the chirping of birds.

But the true highlight of the visit was the panoramic view of Jaipur. Sprawling out beneath the golden gaze of the Sun God, the Pink City shimmered like a jewel box. The Aravalli Hills formed a majestic backdrop, and the distant Hawa Mahal peeked through the haze, reminding me of the adventures that awaited in the city below.

Amazing, must visit temple in jaipur.

> It's an ancient temple. Well-maintained and simple, with a lady caretaker.
> A big drum is placed inside.
> There's a blue board just outside the temple with details about its history.
> Behind the temple there's an open area from where you can get a great view of jaipur city.
> Sun temple is about 15 minutes walk from galta gate.

> You can see a lot of monkeys on the way up from the galta gate.
> If you're like me, that is frugal and ecofriendly, the best way to reach here is to get down at badi chopar metro and ride an e-rickshaw to galta gate. The e-rickshaw ride cost me 10rs. And the metro ride from mansarovar depo to badi chopar costs 22rs.

After this temple, the way goes downhill. A long way down through stoned roads to reach the many other temples inside this complex.

My visit was on 22/11/2023.

Visiting the Sun Temple(around 1700s) situated on a hill was an awe-inspiring journey that left me speechless. This is undoubtedly a destination that deserves every bit of its five-star rating.

The Sun Temple's location atop a hill provided a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. As I made my way up, the gentle breeze carried the sounds of chirping birds. Also, the first rays of sun falls here.

Upon reaching the temple, I was greeted by an architectural marvel. The serene atmosphere, coupled with the soothing chants and prayers echoing through the halls, transported me to a place of inner peace and reflection.

I highly recommend visiting the Sun Temple to anyone seeking a profound cultural experience and a connection with the divine. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a spiritual seeker, or simply an admirer of art and architecture, this place will leave an indelible mark on your heart and soul.

It's the one of the most beautiful site in jaipur. It's situated near jawhar nagar in jaipur. One can see entire jaipur from this temple. Temple is created with great architecture. It has 12 windows on the wall surrounding sun temple which represents 12 sunsigns. There is another temple which is 1000 yrs old..it's named as Gatla temple..a son of bramha ji, who took birth from cheeks (gaal) of bramha ji and hence named as Gatla temple. There is water pond which is coming from mountains and its never dried up. It's also called Monkey temple.. where u see 100s of monkeys. They are active in morning and evening and do rest in afternoon. The water from mountains is known as Ganga and people take holy dip in this water. You should go here on bike because walking is around 2-3 km of hiking and hiking in mountains need lot of strength and time.

Nice little temple with a beautiful view over the city. Especially in the evening.
Just 20 minutes walk up there from the city.

There are no entrance fees, but they demand a small donation when you enter.

There are lots of monkeys on the way up and a good path.

Do NOT go further to the other temples! They are not worth visiting and unbelievably dirty.

This is the place for the recreation and sunrise and sun set view. Be aware of monkeys, they are good but maintain distance

The Sun Temple stands tall on the city's eastern hill range, the Galta hills. Locals also refer to it as Surya Mandir. It is one of Jaipur's most famous heritage temples. It comes en route to the Jaipur Monkey Temple or Galtaji Temple. Since its inception, the Sun Temple has been overseen by the priest family.

It’s a little hike but the view is so worth it! There was an old lady who gave us some rice pops to eat and put a dot on our foreheads and wanted a donation. I guess this is how they do it. Nevertheless a nice experience to visit this temple. Close by is the monkey temple which is also an interesting destination.

Watched a partial eclipse here with the Rajasthan Department of Science and Technology. One of the highlights of our trip to Jaipur!! Check for celestial events during your stay... maybe you’ll get lucky.

Even with no special event, the view is superb. Easy walk up. Go slow. Watch out for monkeys!!

Combine this visit with a walk around the adjacent Royal Gaitor, but check the opening times. However, no matter as the views are impressive, and it's quiet as most people can't be bothered to make the effort to climb the steps.

Definitely a nice surprise during our tour of Jaipur. The route to the temple is occupied by many monkeys and goats. You get a really good view of the city of Jaipur from the temple at the top. Apparent the temple has been owned and looked after by the same family for many generations.

The Sun Temple Jaipur is a small Hindu temple that lies high above Jaipur and provides wonderful panoramic views over the city. The Sun Temple Jaipur is positioned on a rocky outcrop on the edge of the Aravalli Hills and is part of the larger Galta ji temple complex, which is 2km further to the east in a shallow valley.

The Surya Mandir is one of the lesser known tourist sights of Jaipur but the combined relaxed atmosphere and great views make this a first rate attraction. To reach the temple requires a pleasant short hike up along traffic free cobbled roads. The best time to visit the Sun Temple is at sunset when the whole of Jaipur is bathed in golden sunlight and almost manages to look beautiful and serene.
