This is one of the famous and old markets of Delhi. It has a number of shops, it's famous for the wedding dresses. It has cheap as well as very expensive clothing sections. There are a lot of delicious eateries here. Do check out various YouTube channels for better understanding of this place before you go there. It's a very huge market, you won't understand it in the beginning though. It's always better to go here with a person rather than going alone. You can find many shop keepers who try to take advantage of you, so please carry pepper spray. Always be alert .Do keep your essentials safe.

Best for wedding or festive shopping.
Stores for festive home decorations.
Market is usually over crowded.
Only rikshaw option available for shopping inside the market no car or vehicle allowed.
Don’t forget to explore the whole market before shopping.

Chandni Chowk is one of Delhi's oldest and busiest markets, dating back to the 17th century when it was established by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The market's name, which translates to "moonlit square," is thought to have been inspired by its silver merchants. Today, it is a bustling, vibrant market that offers a unique blend of history, culture, and commerce.

Stretching from the Red Fort to Fatehpuri Masjid, Chandni Chowk is a maze of narrow lanes and bustling streets lined with shops selling everything from spices and textiles to jewelry and electronics. It is renowned for its street food, offering a tantalizing array of culinary delights, including the famous parathas of Parathe Wali Gali and the refreshing lassis of Amritsari Lassi Wala.

Aside from its commercial offerings, Chandni Chowk is also home to several historical landmarks, including the iconic Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, and the historic havelis of the wealthy merchants who once lived here. Exploring Chandni Chowk is like taking a journey back in time, where every corner tells a story of Delhi's rich history and cultural heritage.

I recently visited Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi and it was an unforgettable experience. This bustling neighborhood, over three centuries old, is a treasure trove of cultural and historical riches. Home to a diverse range of Indian communities, Chandni Chowk is famous for its heritage havelis, old bazaars, and various places of worship.

Walking through the narrow lanes, you can't help but be enchanted by the vibrant life here. The area is a paradise for food lovers, offering a plethora of street food options like stuffed parathas, jalebis, and Mughlai cuisine, particularly at famed spots like Karim's. The spice, jewelry, dry fruits, and wedding markets are a sensory overload in the best possible way.

A visit to the Jama Masjid & Gurudwara situated nearby, offers stunning views of Delhi, with the iconic Red Fort in the backdrop. The diversity of Old Delhi requires a whole day to explore all its hidden gems.

Taking a rickshaw ride through the narrow, crowded lanes provides a unique perspective of the market's hustle and bustle. The area, built in the 17th century, includes one of India's largest wholesale markets. While the rickshaw ride can be quite an adventure, navigating the bumpy lanes and dodging other vehicles, it's an experience that truly immerses you in the local culture.

Best market for shopping,

I personally love Chandni Chowk despite its overcrowded streets

One of the oldest markets in Old Delhi,

It is ‘The place’ for shopping lovers as you can find everything from wedding clothes to stationary to musical instruments here at very low prices. DO NOT forget food.

I think food is the best thing about this place.

Chandni Chowk, located in Old Delhi, is a bustling market known for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse offerings. It's a sensory delight with narrow lanes, aromatic street food, and traditional shops selling textiles, spices, and jewelry. However, it can be crowded and chaotic, making it challenging for some visitors to navigate comfortably.

Giving it 5 stars ⭐ despite the chaos because the wedding shopping is by far the best in the country. The prices are unbelievable.
It itself is a historic landmark for its location and food.
The shopkeepers could be pushy but are respectful of your decisions. Make sure you bargain and don’t go with first option you see.
The food is amazing. And now the new market is very well organised with new road making it so much more accessible and easy to walk.
The bustling wholesale market here is an excellent place to shop, explore, eat and soak up life in New Delhi.
There are so many items u can buy exclusively there only. Like I went for some hand made packing paper, paper bags, ribbon, gifting flower, decorative material and so on. But u can buy so many things which you haven't even planned to buy.

Located in the heart of Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk Market is a bustling hub of activity, offering a sensory overload of sights, sounds, and smells. It's a paradise for those seeking traditional Indian goods, from spices and textiles to jewelry and electronics. Navigating through its narrow lanes can be chaotic yet exhilarating, as vendors beckon you to explore their stalls piled high with merchandise. The market's historical significance adds to its charm, with landmarks like the Red Fort and Jama Masjid nearby. However, the crowds and congestion can be overwhelming, especially during peak hours. Bargaining is a must to get the best deals, but be prepared to haggle vigorously. Despite its frenetic energy and occasional hygiene concerns, Chandni Chowk Market remains an essential destination for tourists and locals alike, offering a glimpse into the vibrant tapestry of Delhi's cultural and commercial life.
