Valiyaparamba Retreat

This place was perfect! The gardens were beautiful, staff was attentive, rooms were clean and well appointed, and the food was fantastic. We really appreciated the lifejackets for swimming, lookout perch for sunsets, and the excellent food throughout. Highly recommend! The only thing I felt was lacking was having hammocks or other swinging chairs to nap and enjoy the beautiful gardens, though there were benches at all the rooms. The beach is just steps from the property and we spent most of our time sitting on the beach and swimming in the surf. Thank you!

Mine was a pleasure trip with my wife to explore Northern Kerala. The place is around 45 km fr Kannur rly stn. A note of caution, taxi fares are a bit high in this part of world. I was bit apprehensive the moment I landed at the resort. It's more like a home stay. Once settled down , I really loved the place. An absolute bliss of a location, one side sea and other side freshwater body (Kwavai puzha). The beach is beautiful,calm and almost deserted. Spent nearly a couple of hrs in sea, The resort has a pvt entry to the beach. Over-all the time spent was highly enjoyable. In the evening they served yummy home made nonveg food , tat to worth mentioning.

We stayed here in December'23 end for vacation. This place is really awesome , in fact a hidden pearl. Best for relaxing, beach view, fishing spot in backwater, swing in the garden. Also the staff are very kind to guests..

What a lovely experience I had in Valiyaparamba Retreat. I had a fresh welcoming with a cold lemonade after driving for 5 hours :)

The owner was happy to recieve me. The resort is located in a magical island connected with bridges. Right in the beach. From one side a great ocean view with a private beach and from the other side the backwaters.

The room was clean, with a great lightning and decoration. Had tea, coffee and to heat up water.

The resort counts with relaxing spots like hammocks, view points, table games and a lot of beautiful plants and trees to make you feel in the calm of nature.

To finish this experience I had a complete breakfast to start my day full of energy.

Great location for a family or team stay. It's overlooking a beach with backwaters behind it.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The best part is the staff who are amazing and make your stay wonderful.
Don't expect a typical hotel food experience. Homely food is cooked in their kitchen but be proactive to request for any preferences; so they can accommodate accordingly.
Was sceptical on the pricing as it looked higher than other properties in the area but the facilities are much better and would suggest to go ahead with the booking if you are confused.

The First impression was Wow...though we reached there past midnight, courteous staff Mr. Sudharshan was happy to receive us with a smiling face and show us all our rooms. The property was so neat and maintained well, rooms are big enough to let you move around with stunning views. Roaring waves on one side and calming backwaters on the other and both are a stone's throw away. Place is a perfect sandwich between two water bodies with totally different character. Dont miss this place. Single or family or group...Peace is guaranteed...

Great Hospitality, awesome food both veg/non-veg, was finger licking good food, location is amazing having back water one side and sea on another. Scenic beaches, peaceful surroundings, perfect for both family and friends.

If you are looking to spend an extremely relaxed vacation, this place is worth your penny! It faces the beautiful backwaters of Kerala giving you a breathtaking view and has a private entrance to the beach through its backyard garden. The sunset from this place is mesmerising and a sight to behold! The caretaker was extremely polite and served great food. They recommended a place serving local seafood and it was great as well. Would definitely recommend 10/10 for the hospitality and location.

This place ticked all the boxes for a great vacation. In last 6 months, I visited the place 3 times and will be visiting many more times in future. Best part is that you feel at home here. Great location, peaceful ambiance and excellent food. If you like fish, this is the place to be. Food made by Subhash and his wife is excellent. The shell fish "Kallummekkay" is something you should try here. The canoe ride in the morning and kayaking are activities that you must do.

You have a private pristine beach on one side, the backwaters on the other. You get homemade Kerala meals, an auto when you need it. It's hot during the day, so get moving then, relax after lunch and see the sunset on the beach. Incidentally, I saw 4 dolphins at close range on Dec 30 at 7 30 am just outside the Retreat. Made my day!

This is a piece of paradise with the sea on one side and the gorgeous river on the other. Direct access to an almost private beach as well. It’s a great place to go with a group of friends/family and enjoy some home made food and warm staff. Kid friendly as well. Thanks for a beautiful stay V retreat !

One of the finest location that i have visited. The resort is nestled on the sandy beach with a private access. There is a beautiful (back)water front.

The rooms are well equipped for a comfortable stay without compromising any essentials. The support staff are friendly and efficient.

Boat rides, boathouse and easy access to other sightseeing / activities.

Lovingly nestled between the Kavvayi backwaters and the Arabian Sea, we chanced upon “V Retreat” or “Valiyaparamba Retreat” - a gem of a getaway, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Located in Valiyaparamba Town (Kasargod District), Kerala, getting here is part of the scenic adventure. The nearest airport is in Kannur, followed by a 1 Hr 45 Min journey by road.

Ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway, or for groups of friends / Family who want to immerse themselves in nature for a few days, V Retreat has it all. The hospitality is impeccable, the cottages and rooms are neat and tidy (very important in seaside locales), and the landscaped Gardens are well maintained. The food is mostly the local cuisine, cooked with local ingredients…..Delicious and fulfilling!!

While lazing around the whole day on the beach is the preferred option, those who want to explore the place a bit can go boating or kayaking at #Kavvayistories (a 45 min auto ride from the resort) or take a boat ride on the backwaters bang opposite the resort. A word of caution for those wanting to splash around in the private beach stretch behind the resort – the sea can get a bit rough in the late afternoon and evenings. Use the lifejackets the resort provides and make sure you are in a group looking out for each other as there are no lifeguards around.

A big shout out to the owners and hosts Mr John and Mrs Shirley, and their dedicated Staff Mohanan, Raju and Gauri, who did everything possible to make our stay so amazing.

Everything is great except voltage fluctuations makes AC not working all day and night( which is not in these people control) 😓

Backwater house boat stop is around 1 km from homestay.
Rowboat can be available near homestay if requested.

Owner and staff is very cooperative.

Overall surrounding area is one of the hidden jem.

An impromptu getaway from the hustle of Bangalore led us to booking the V Retreat… and it was the best decision ever.

We had a most wonderful time!!
It was One of the best vacations we’ve had not only in Kerala, but amongst all sites we’ve traveled to in the country.

It’s location is such that both the sea and backwaters are just a few steps away. And if you don’t want to step out, you can just chill in the loghut and savour the seaside.

You’re away from the touristy crowd, yet you can travel to several popular destinations in a short time. Boating on backwaters can be arranged too. We took a day trip, and it was any day better than Allepey.

The ambience, accommodation, food, hospitality and staff were all great. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. Authentic local and cuisine is made fresh and served in a beautiful dining area. There are facilities for bonfire and BBQ. The staff pays sincere attention to the smallest details to ensure a pleasant stay.

We will be back soon. And of course our friends too!!

We had awesome time. Rooms were very clean.Perfect location for relaxing @ Beach and Back water. Adding to that. the hospitality provided by mohan was ultimate. We continuously saw Mohan running everywhere so that guests are happy. Very simple but very good.

Kavvayi boat jetty is 10 km from the resort. Go there to visit Mangrove.
