A very old temple on South of Goa which is a few hundred years old, probably built during the Marathas regime.
Very beautiful, peaceful and serene temple.
The temple gives a very spiritual feeling once you enter and the deity is so beautiful and the rituals are well performed
The hills and forest around give a good ambience when you are just outside the temple
One can sit peacefully outside when the weather is nice

Went on Sunday to this temple. It was crowded after 10:00 am. Had to wait for almost half an hour in the queue to take the deity darshan. It's was a Devine experience. Since Sunday is the deity day most people prefer to come on this day to the temple. Hence it's mostly crowded on Sunday's.

Peaceful temple. We visited in the weekend but there was less crowd and got the darshan quickly. Sunday people mostly visit for magni. Well maintained temple. Cleaning is done everyday by temple authorities. For toilet you have to go to the SBI building and the toilet is not hygienic. Requesting the authorities to please maitain it properly. Gents toilet is useless. Parking area is big enough. Bus stand is just opposite of the temple.
One request to the temple authorities that please throw those to beggars roaming around the temple defaming aur hindu God. They are fooling our innocent goan people in the name of yellama devi. If you don't give money they are threatening you. Requesting goa police to act immediately. Kaam karpak konak jayna pun bheek magpak bare kalta..

The Shri Shantadurga Kunkalikarin Temple is a beautiful and historic structure, believed to be built in the 16th century. The temple complex is known for its serene atmosphere and intricate architecture. It is a popular pilgrimage destination, particularly during the Navratri festival. Every year, during the month of Makar (January), a grand ten-day festival is celebrated at the temple, attracting thousands of devotees.

Shri Shantadurga is a manifestation of the powerful Goddess Durga, known as the destroyer of evil. She is depicted as having eight arms, carrying various weapons and symbolizing immense power. Shantadurga is considered the patron goddess of Goa and is believed to bring peace and prosperity to her devotees.

The word "Kunkalikarin" translates to "dweller in the kumkum," referring to the red powder traditionally applied on the forehead during Hindu rituals. Shantadurga Kunkolikarin is specifically worshipped in the village of Cuncolim, Goa, where a temple dedicated to her is situated.

Very much calm place ...where stepping into the temple felt like a harmonious blend of cultural immersion and personal reflection. The vibrant colors of the architecture, the rhythmic chants, and the gentle sway of trees outside created a unique atmosphere The temple became a haven for introspection, bridging the gap between the modern world and the timeless spirituality embedded in the Goan cultural tapestry.

Beautiful divine abode of the Goddess. It was a privilege to have been chosen by Her to visit Her place. Nice traditional Goan/Kadamba architecture which is very unique compared to any you'll ever see. The idol of the Goddess is itself striking with sharp piercing eyes.
