It was established in the year of 1603 which is around eight decades ago and still it's looking tremendous and beautiful with all their statue and seating facilities. Must visit this places with your family, friends and your loved ones. We were seated here for a long time and felt so relaxed with their peaceful atmosphere. One more important thing is that they are still maintaining this church from the indoor side and maybe it's quite difficult to renovate it from the outside wall and gates. This church is protected by an old man who has always been there and this church is closed from 12 pm to 3 pm.

It is the oldest church in Daman. Built at the time of the Portuguese rule in the city.
Do visit the church and just look at the each walls, corners. Mesmerize the architecture.

Built by the Franciscan friars who arrived in Daman in the mid-16th century, Bom Jesus Church 🏰 was dedicated to Bom Jesus, meaning "Good Jesus" in Portuguese. The church's construction was completed in 1603 AD 🏁, and it has stood as one of the oldest and most significant churches in Daman since then.

The church's architecture is a beautiful blend of Baroque, Gothic and Mannerist styles, with intricate paintings 🎨, sculptures 🗿, and carvings 🪵 adorning the interior. Over the years, the church has undergone several renovations and restorations to preserve its beauty and historical significance.

The Daman Municipal Corporation, Indian Government, and local communities have played a crucial role in maintaining and preserving the church 🙌. Their efforts have ensured that Bom Jesus Church remains an important religious center 🛐 and a popular tourist attraction 🌟 in the region.

Overall, Bom Jesus Church is an excellent representation of the cultural heritage of Daman. Its historical significance and stunning architecture make it a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in history and architecture 🤩.

The church had a welcoming atmosphere, and the members were friendly and accommodating. The worship service was uplifting, featuring a blend of traditional and contemporary music that appealed to a wide range of preferences. The sermon was engaging, thought-provoking, and relevant to everyday life. The facilities were well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment for worship. Although I didn't have the opportunity to engage in their community activities, the church seemed to have a strong sense of fellowship and a focus on outreach.

Stunning church! can't believe it's 400 years old and still is a great shape. Not sure if any local guides would have been able to spell out the history of the church, but we thoroughly enjoyed the architecture and the ambience. No photos allowed inside the church, so you have to see it to truly admire the beauty of the place.

Friends to be very clear now a days Google is best to give information, distance. But what I will give you all a important fact is that take a route from jampore beach towards jetty garden just before the garden you will come across a passage to moto daman fort it's called house of bockage. Here you can find Bom Jesus church with Rosario church. You can feel as if you are in French colonies, Portugal ancient buildings. Domominican monastery is there. Although all the colonies are acquired by government office. Library, court, post office, hospitals etc. Both the church are crafted with wood. Very very old. Posted the Photos of mass timing and feast too. On the other side through bockage you can get entry to the moti daman fort.

Located inside the Moti Daman Fort area and is easily locatable. There are ample place to park the vehicle in and around the church, though during Mass it can be filled to capacity.

The church was completed in 1603 and is a masterpiece of intricate design across the door and the altar. There are 5 churches which should be seen too if you are in Daman and the list is available inside the church premises. Exquisite Roman style architecture is evident and brilliant engineering artistry of the Portuguese is demonstrated.

The main feature of the church is its painted an gilt wooden altar reredos and pulpit. The richly carved main south door with the elevated facade, lofty ceiling, embellished with the statues of six saints are aesthetic and pleasing.

There is a board stating Photography is prohibited inside the church premises though pictures taken with mobile phone are allowed. However, would request to seek permission before going on a rampage with your phone

Picture clicking is not allowed, but the nakkshi work was amazing at there, it's a Portuguese church, so first time I saw that type of work. It was very different art then usual. Overall it's a good place. And the places nearby are more pretty than this church. Must go.

Church of Bom Jesus is an old shrine, located in the Moti Daman region of Daman. One of the most imposing historical and religious edifices of the city, this church reflects the colonial influences the town has had in the past. Established in AD 1559, this parish was finally consecrated as a church in AD 1603, when the Portuguese reign in Daman was in its initial years.

Flaunting exquisite Roman style of architecture, this church is a fine specimen of the brilliant engineering artistry of the Portuguese. The intricately carved gateways, artistically adorned interiors and wooden altars of this shrine are at their glorious best, even after several years. Six statues of revered saints, which are highly aesthetic in appeal, can be found on the southern entrance of this church. Both tourists and devotees visit the Church of Bom Jesus in large numbers throughout the year, especially during Christian festivals.

Very nice place to know about. Not sure if the Opening timings has changed or not after the Lockdown. As I have noticed visiting time is 6am to 8am, so plan accordingly otherwise you have to see the Church from outside 😁

Best Portuguese architectural church at Daman ! Excellent finishing and historical place to visit. Located in prominent Moti Daman fort area, it gives a glimpse into history and how it blends with the local customs. Good to visit during Christmas time (just before 25 Dec) to watch the processing. Marvelous piece and gift from Portuguese to India !
