1 hr easy trek if you are a regular trekker & the best you can say for the new or beginner.
The mrugagad is a giridurg. Which you take 1 -2 hrs for trek completion. The view from the top is amazing. You don't get too much crowd bcz it's less known fort. Still we got many people on Sunday with us. You don't get food stalls there bcz no one lives beside the fort. Only you can get in bheliv at the base camp. Carry your own water bottle. & Njoy the trek.

Mrugagad is a small watchtower fort on khopoli pali road.

It takes around 30 - 45 mins max to reach the top from beliv village, base village.

It is also known as beliv fort.

One need to park your vehicle near a temple in the village. The trail for the fort start just behind the temple.

After walking for some 15 mins from a dense jungle patch, take your left fronm a junction point.

This left side trail will take you to the col after climbing a small easy grade patch.

After reaching the col take left side trail which has some rock cut steps.

There are some 4-5 water cisterns on the fort.

Nothing much to see apart from that on the top.

One can explore a small cave which is near the col.

This fort is easy to moderate difficulty level...one thing I found extremely fascinating is the route which leads to base village...it was serene.

Beautiful fortress offering panoramic view around from the top. Little difficult and risky to climb in monsoon as final ascent is an exposed patch and is quite slippery. Not advisable for first timers. However, the view from top during monsoons is fantastic. Possible to complete the trek in one day and return by evening from Mumbai

Mrugagad is Hill Fort located near Bheliv Village in Sudhagad Taluka of Raigad District, Maharashtra, India.
Mrugagad Fort is also known as “Bhelivcha Killa” due to Bheliv Village situated at its base. There are three mountains near the village and amongst three mountains, the middle one is Mrugagad Fort.
Mrugagad provides an amazing view of Moradi Pinnacle, Lions Point and other mountains in Lonavala region. Not much known about the history of this fort. But, it is said that this fort was used during the fight between Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Karatlab Khan for Umberkhind. This fort is in ruin condition as we hardly see any fortification.
Mrugagad fort offers some breath-taking views in monsoon season making your trek a beautiful and pleasant one.

Mrugagad trek 5 June 22

Another small but beautiful fort. You must have seen this fort when you have visited the lions / monkey point at lonavla. While viewing the valley from lions point you can spot this small hill fort.
However the access to this fort is from khalapur Pali Road .

The forts attraction is the forest beneath and the uphill ascend thru a gully formed between steep sides.
The top of the fort is reachable through zigzag rock cut steps.
There is a big cave cut in the rock , however to reach this cave one has to take the traverse path through small rock cut steps and super exposure.

From the top of the fort you can see lonavla hill on one side while small villages like bheliv and falyan with paddy fields and forest.

Also on top you see quite visible engraving in the stone …May be the marking for a house.
There are remains of Wada structures, water tanks , idols.

The forest is full of mango trees ( raywal) and Carisa karanda commonly known as karvand.
We enjoyed our share of these summer fruits.

Easy Trek near Khopoli
Follow the gmap route to reach Bheliv village which is base village of the fort
Most of the trek route is through a medium dense forest which reduces climbing efforts
It takes around 1 hour to reach the peak of the fort.
Monsoon will be the best season to visit

One of the few forts which has some structures left on top. Medium grade trek. Best to be done in winters. Risky in monsoons and no water available during summers

Awesome place gives you beautiful surrounding view. Base village is Bheliv. It's a small trek of 1 hr. There are two caves on the fort. 7 to 10 water tanks. But in summer water is not available. Carved stairs and bit of climbing through the small chimney takes you on the fort. You can also take a dip in river near the fort. You can also cover Umberkhind which is nearly 10-12 km from fort. It's a historical place where Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj faught one of his battles.

Forts are always a five star. Mrugagad is a small fort requiring easy level endurance and having medium level difficulty. The route us easy and well marked. Initial trek goes through jungle, and then a steep climb will take you to a gully. This gully climb is a series of rocks above each other and is quite difficult to approach for a begginer. Further after the chimney climb, a series of rock cut steps take you to the citadel which has 4-5 water tanks, out of which only one has water, that too not potable (can be used in emergency situations).

Small Fort. Not much to see here.
But less crowded.
Transportation here is not so good.
From Khopoli station you could get a taxi directly to the Base village "Bheliv".
Or if you are travelling by ST bus you should get down at Parali village. After that get an auto to go ahead.
When returning you won't find transport at Base village( unless you already booked your transport ) and will have to walk to Mangaon village for Auto or taxi.

Posting a photo down here of a Food Centre, can contact them for Lunch or if you need Auto rickshaw or anything.

Easy grade fort... Base village is Bheliv ... Except one patch which is difficult in rainy season... Sign boards are available after some point... There are water cistern & Mahishasurmardini Temple on the top of the fort ... Very good for the beginners ... if you are traveling by private vehicles then one can explore Umberkhind Chhavani as well .... Enjoy 🤗🤗🤗

1.Base Village Bheliv , Grade - Easy (excluding 1 patch in raining season mentioned in point 5)
2.Durgveer prathisthan team have done the best work by placing the markings and arrow boards along the trek route.
2.Good drinkable Water Source available.(Still one should carry water bottles in summer)
3.One can find ruins of Wada, temples and chauthara on top.
4.One can find the caves at the bottom of the fort on left side when you start for ascend just before the so called chimney patch, skip the caves during raining season as we found & heard some wild animals and reptiles take shelter which during raining season, one can explore it during summer using torch.
5.The fort is also well-known for rock-cut steps which takes you to a large cave.(a bit slippery during rainy season or one can carry the white powder from base village for good grip)
6.Above mentioned cave is good for Night Stay.(Please keep the cave clean incase one sees any garbage please carry it to base village)

Best offbeat fort to visit. Very rare people know about this fort. Trek is easy. But take care on slippery steps.

The trekking experience was very good as there was no rush at the place. Also the trek is between easy to moderate range. Nice place to enjoy view of lonavala tiger hill and places in the surrounding. If you have tight schedule you can complete the trek within 5 hrs.
