A very old park of Lucknow situated at parivartan chouk. Previously many cultural, religious and political functions was used to organize in this park and at that time it was just a field only but now this is good and maintained park where people can spend some time.

The well-preserved facades and sprawling courtyards transported me back in time, immersing me in the grandeur of the past.

The informative exhibits and guided tour were instrumental in deepening my understanding of Begum Hazrat Mahal's significant role in India's history. Learning about her unwavering spirit, leadership, and bravery during the First War of Indian Independence in 1857 (also known as the Indian Rebellion of 1857) was truly inspiring. She stood as a symbol of resistance against the British colonial rule, leading her people with great determination and courage.

The museum's collection of artifacts, documents, and photographs provided a glimpse into the life and struggles of Begum Hazrat Mahal and the freedom fighters of that era. It was humbling to witness firsthand the hardships endured by those who fought for our nation's independence.

The staff at Begum Hazrat Mahal were courteous and knowledgeable, adding to the overall experience. Their passion for preserving history was evident as they shared intriguing stories and anecdotes, enhancing the visit further.

Begum Hazrat Mahal (c. 1820 – 7 April 1879), also known as the Begum of Awadh, was the second wife of Nawab of Awadh Wajid Ali Shah, and the regent of Awadh in 1857–1858. She is known for the leading role she had in the rebellion against the British East India Company during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
After her husband had been exiled to Calcutta and the Indian Rebellion broke out, she made her son, Prince Birjis Qadr, the Wali (ruler) of Awadh, with herself as regent during his minority. However, she was forced to abandon this role after a short reign. By way of Hallaur, she finally found asylum in Nepal, where she died in 1879. Her role in the rebellion has given her a heroine status in the post-colonial history of India.
Begum Hazrat Mahal's name was Mohammadi Khanum, and she was born in 1820 at Faizabad, the former capital of Oudh State. She was sold by her parents and became a tawaif by profession. She entered the royal harem as a Khawasin after having been sold to Royal agents, where she was promoted to a pari, and was known as Mahek Pari.[citation needed]

She became a Begum after being accepted as a royal concubine of the King of Awadh, the last Tajdaar-e-Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah; became his junior wife and the title 'Hazrat Mahal' was bestowed on her after the birth of their son, Birjis Qadr. In 1856, the British annexed Awadh, and Wajid Ali Shah was exiled to Calcutta. Begum Hazrat Mahal remained in Lucknow with her son and soon took charge of the affairs of the rebel state of Awadh as it entered armed struggle with the British East India Company.
