The elephants at the Theppakadu camp are well fed and seem happy and healthy. Some of the elephants at the camp are orphaned young ones while others are those who have wandered into nearby villages and have been brought to the camp for domestication. Weekends and public holidays, there are a lot of people visiting. During the visiting hours, one can see the food being prepared and watch elephants being fed. One can also talk to the caretakers and get to know more about the animals. Oh yes, there are a lot of langurs hanging around the camp for the leftover food and attention from the visitors. It's a happy place for the Langurs as well. One can also meet Mr Bomman and Ms Bellie, cast from the documentary 'Elephant Whisperers'.

Beautiful place to be visited by all age groups. They are well trained elephants so no danger. You can feed the elephants but you have to buy separate ticket for that. Before entering the place you have to buy the ticket which is from the opposite side of the road. Instead of parking the car by road side you can directly take the car near to the entrance itself. Overall it’s a good place.

Theppakadu Elephant Camp is an elephant training and rehabilitation center located in the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, India. The camp was established in 1972 to train and manage captive elephants, and it has since become a popular tourist attraction for visitors to the sanctuary.

The camp is home to several domesticated elephants, which are trained by experienced mahouts (elephant trainers) to carry out various tasks such as pulling logs, carrying loads, and performing in cultural events. Visitors to the camp can watch the elephants being bathed, fed, and trained, and can even take part in activities such as elephant rides and safaris.

In addition to its role in training domesticated elephants, the Theppakadu Elephant Camp also plays an important role in the conservation of wild elephants in the region. The camp has been involved in several research and conservation projects aimed at protecting the habitat of wild elephants and minimizing human-elephant conflicts in the area.
